Yes, we had all those on our trip...and here is my 1st ever trip report.

Cast: Me 27
DH (Casey) 27
DD (Alex) 18 mo

My mom (50) was also there but didn't walk around the parks with us. She was our built-in babysitter. :sunny:

Backround: We stayed at POP from Sept 27 to Oct 4 taking advantage of the free dining promotion. Our 4th anniversary was Sept 28. This was our first time at POP. Last year we stayed at CBR. Before that at the All Stars and before that (on our honeymoon) we were at POLY.

And so it begins...

Our flight left at 6:30 in the morning, so like good travelers we arrived two hours prior to departure time. We got in line at the Southwest ticket counter at 4:30 and waited. And waited. Did you know the ticket counter doesn't open until 5am? So much for the two hour arrival. Once we got checked in we went through security with no issues. I was so proud of my ziploc baggie with my travel size germ-x and sunscreen in it. I also was allowed to take a sippy cup with about 2 oz of milk for DD through.

Did you know its against federal regulations to walk through a metal detector with food? DD's a felon. She was carrying an English muffin. :sad2:

DD enjoyed running through the gate while we waited the remaining amount of time for boarding. We tried using a toddler harness (the kind that looks like a backpack with a bear on it with a really long tail.). She hated it. (Duh!)

We boarded the plane and strapped in her carseat without a problem. DD slept the whole time. We got on Magical Express very quickly as well, and arrived at our resort about 9:30AM.

We got a room in the 90's building(8216), with my mom's room next door. She wasn't too happy about the placement being so far. But would you believe our rooms were already ready?! This kind of through me off. I was prepared to go straight to MK and made us early dinner reservations. But now I didn't know what to do: take a nap or stick to the plan? We stuck to the plan.

Not so sure that was wise, as I felt like a zombie walking around at MK. I had been up since 2:45 AM after all. We ate at Casey's (our favorite counter service) for lunch. They have free cheese sauce, after all! We both got hot dogs and fries, but they didn't have any toddler friendly food so we had to wait to feed DD. We held her over on fries while we ate.

Now have you ever noticed the signs everywhere there that say "Please do NOT feed the ducks?" Oh, you have? Apparantly you and I are the only ones in the world who actually read them. So while people all around us are feeding the ducks, DD is sitting in her stroller trying to eat a fry when she became victim to a greedy duck. With the fry to her mouth, the duck came up to her and stole the fry! Now DD is terrifed of ducks. (This is nothing new, as she is also afraid of dogs, cats, baby chicks and pregnant people). So for the rest of our meal whenever a duck looked at her, we had to shoo it away with our feet. I felt like some animal activist was going to swarm down and remove us from the park or something. Even later that day she cried when she saw a duck.

We rode a few rides, including the newly improved Pirates of the Carribean pirate: , then ate at the Crystal Palace for dinner. Somehow our anniversary got on all our dinner reservations, so when we were seated the CM made a heart of Mickey confetti on our table and gave us a certificate signed by all the characters. :cloud9:

Speaking of whom, DD was terrified of the characters. I have great video of her screaming in terror when one came by. After an hour all I got to eat was a piece of bread because as soon as I'd get up to get food, another character would come by. Finally when DD finished eating we handed her off to my mom who was waiting outside and I finally got to eat.

I really enjoyed the fish they had, and the bread and butter. I couldn't get enough butter the whole trip (on bread, not like spoonfuls). I don't know what made it so good but it was.

After we ate dinner we went back to the resort and DD played in the Pop Jets. Its amazing that she can play in them for an hour and still not get wet. I also spent a long time unpacking everything just right (see tomorrow).

We went to bed early (DH was grateful for this as he suddenly captured a terrible cold), but DD wouldn't sleep in her PnPlay, she had to sleep in bed with us.

ETA: next day #11 on this page.

your little princess is adorable......sounds like you all made out okey...We have ressies for the first time at the Crystal Palace in December.......Just hubby and myself but we love to eat ...
Thanks again

Awww, too bad she doesn't like the characters (or the ducks)

Maybe it will get better during your trip?

Great report so far :)

Uhm... I didn't see any of those until AFTER we'd fed the ducks. And the sparrows and the black birds.

Speaking of... Black birds will eat Dorito crumbs dropped by careless 5 yr olds, but they will NOT eat teeny portions of sweet cream cheese pretzel dropped by amused adults. There's something inherently wrong in that.

Keep up the good work! I'm awaiting the next installment!

Great report so far!! I love the PC!!!(BTW,are you the daughter to a poster on mouse buzz dot com named Jo Jo? I ask because the picture of your dd looks just like the picture of the little girl that Jo Jo posted)

Yep, that's me.

Day 1 pic. The "before" shot. This was DD in our hotel room the day we got to Disney, after experiencing only one day of Disney magic. She's very tired. That's also the sippy cup we left on a bus after meeting Camafrog.

Look for the installment of Day 2 tomorrow night. Its our anniversary.

Day 2: Tears at Epcot

Thursday, Sept 28 was DH and my fourth wedding anniversary. We had also honeymooned at Disney.

All night I kept smelling smoke in our room. DD ended up spending a good chunk of the night in our bed, not liking the Pack N Play apparently. Worried about her and SIDS (even though she is over 1 now), I kept smelling the pillows, bedsheets, bedspread…everything, but it all smelled fine. DH thought I was crazy.

So its morning and I’m taking a shower, and the smell of smoke is nauseating. I jump out of the shower and tell DH he HAS to smell it now. I’m not crazy! He agreed. He could smell smoke in the bathroom.

I call front desk to see what the dilyo is, and a manager told us that there are some smoking rooms in the building and it travels through the vents in the bathrooms. He said the could use an ozone machine and suck all the air out of the room and replace it with new air (????). But, there really was no point in that since the individuals would keep smoking, I pointed out. He agreed. I said “It’s a shame there aren’t any entirely non-smoking buildings.” He offered to move us to one. Now, here’s where my room has an identity crisis: He said he had two other rooms in the 90’s section.

We go to the new rooms in the “90’s” section, room 9116. This is the Pac-Man building. All week we debated if this was really 90’s or 80’s. I’m starting to think the CM was crazy. It’s totally 80’s.

Unfortunately moving (remember how I spent hours unpacking the night before) took up a good chunk of the morning. We arrived at EPCOT before lunch. I immediately went to Guest Relations to get the special pin to wear since it was our anniversary. I approach the CM and tell him its our anniversary and I heard there was a special pin we got to wear. He says, “Oh, uh, yeah, the pins…” No really he said that. Turns out they ran out of the old design, and weren’t releasing the new design until Oct 1. He said we could come back Oct 1 and get one. “But today is our anniversary,” I replied as tears began to well in my eyes. “Are you staying for Illuminations? I can’t get you VIP spots, that’s better than a silly pin, anyway.” OK. I stopped crying. So we got VIP spots for the fireworks. Which, ironically, were in the same spot my mom got kicked out of a few years ago by a CM who told her the VIPs paid a lot more than her to be there. :rotfl:

We ate at the LAND, and road Test Track and some other attractions. DD fell asleep on Spaceship Earth. We tried to do the Aussie Wine Walkabout, but after selling us a card, the first wine CM wouldn’t serve me without ID. All I carried was room ID. We return to the room after 3 to give DD a bath and let her play in the Pop Jets, but of course our luggage hadn’t been moved yet. DH was allowed to get one suitcase from luggage services but not all of them since they were buried so deep. We got the one with DD’s bath soap, but not the swimsuits. Since she avoided the Pop Jets at all costs, but loved to run between them, we let DD play in regular clothes.

At 5 the luggage still hadn’t been moved, but we had to leave for dinner.

We ate dinner at San Angel Inn. It was a very romantic setting, which DD wasn’t getting into. She was more interested in crawling around. The tortilla chips kept her satisfied once we were seated, and she really enjoyed the Cheese Quesadilla we got her. I got the nachos grande (or was it supreme?) as my appetizer. DH got something with fish in it. Then for the meal he got a steak dish and I got the Mexican Plate. It was so much food! I boxed half and gave it to my poor mom who was NOT on the free dining.

DH ordered flan for dessert. Me, the rice pudding. Aw, how sweet—we got Anniversary flan! Yes, the flan came out with a candle in it. It was good. Rice pudding—not so good.

The server came and took our dining card, and came back with the receipt. I noticed something odd though. It said we had 9 meals remaining. That was odd, since DH and I always eat together. I eventually figured it out. He took an adult table service credit off for DD’s $6 quesadillas!!! I told him we have to pay for her, that she’s not on the plan (DUH, she’s ONE!) and he said what a hassle it would be to put it on, which of course I said I still wanted to do. (WWYD? Pay for a $6 kids meal, or a $40 adult meal? Hmm, tough choice).

Anyway, this difficult task took all of two minutes and we were out.

After dinner we did the Wine Tour in Americaland, and then went to our VIP spot for the fireworks.

Had it been a really crowded night, I think it would’ve been a bigger deal, but there were good spots everywhere. Here are some pics I took from our “VIP” spot.

By the way, DD missed the VIP viewing. She slept through the whole thing!

One of DH’s friends at work told him they put the time on Spaceship Earth after Illuminations. Haha, I proved him wrong!

See post 14 for an addendum...
Tomorrow is Magical Beginnings at the Magic Kingdom! (page 2, post 19)

How was your DD with the fireworks? any problems? Where was the VIP spot, Italy?

It sure is taking long enough to get your luggage moved!

Yes, it was Italy... and DD slept through the whole thing! Oops, I forgot, luggage was at the resort when we got back.

Day 2 continued...

How could I forget the Love Bugs? There were these bugs all over the place and they flew in pairs stuck to each other. They were everywhere. I say to my mom, "What are those things?" She says, "Those are the love bugs you read about so much on the DIS?"

Apparantly I was reading the wrong boards because I knew nothing about them.

So leaving EPCOT I had to wait for a bus. I was tired. There was a bench. Literally hundreds of love bugs had gotten to the bench first.

Cue FEAR FACTOR: EPCOT version.

Did I want to stand and watch the love bugs crawling all over the bench, or brush off a spot for me to sit on and be brave. I was brave, and I survived!

One other couple informed me that the Love bugs weren't native to WDW, but were brought in on an experiment to eat mosquitos. Obviously a failed experiment since all they do is procreate. Wonder if that's true... :confused3

Great Trippie!!!

Autumn was afraid of the characters at the beginning of the trip and then BOOM one day she was dancing with Leo at hollywood and Vine and i was in tears and she LOVEd the characters from then on out!!! :woohoo:

Oh my goodness. The duck story cracks me up. Poor girl. That and Alex's other lists of phobias. Ella developed her phobia of bug while we were there. She would scream anytime a lovebug would land on her.

Loved Day 2 !! You pictures of Illuminations were great and Alex is such a doll !!

Yup Loved those pics.. keep it coming.... I did not get any good pic this trip so am feeding off from everyones picture for strenght :smooth: ... if you have a toddler in tow I have a 50 some in tow... :guilty: Lord forgive me for all the bad thoughts :rotfl2:

Friday, 9/29

Today we got up really early, (its what a good father does, DH said), and went to the preschool extra magic hour at Magic Kingdom. My mom picked a fight with an obnoxious group of all adults on the way over. Okay, not really, but the adults were there and they were obnoxious.

We were there for park opening. Never, ever, in all my trips have I ever arrived at Park Opening. There was confetti.

We went straight to Dumbo and DH and DD went on, while I counted my 24 people and waited behind them. After the ride DH handed me DD (This is officially called the "chuck bubba swap") and DD and I rode. Stitch rode too, though not with us. When we got off DD spotted the carousal. We rode that bunch (her favorite ride), and so did Mary Poppins and Chip (or was it Dale?). We also played "Mickey says" with Alice in Wonderland. The Mad Hatter came over too. DD mainly watched.

Eventually DD fell asleep on the WEDway People Mover, er, uh Tomorrowland Transit Authority, and my mom watched her while DH and I rode Space Mountain, Splash Mountain (twice without getting off!), and BTMRR. We returned to still-sleeping DD and my mom and we all got on Carousel of Progress, during which DD woke up. It had some technical difficulties, and DH insists we missed the beginning of the first segment.

Next, we went back to the room and DD spent some time with grandma while DH and I slept until 4. Ahh, naptime. Oh, and when we arrived these were waiting.

We had ADRs at Teppanyaki for 5:15. Again, we failed to estimate the amount of time it takes to use transportation, and arrived at Epcot at 5. We booked it to dinner, and arrived just in time to wait 45 minutes in the lobby. Dinner was good, though I was terrified DD was going to burn something or I was going to poison the person next to me.

You see, Teppanyaki has communal dining, so you sit with a bunch of strangers at the grill. The person next to me was literally deathly allergic to mushrooms. So they cooked her meal seperately and all, but I still got to eat mushrooms, and we gave DD mushrooms. She showed us a scar on her hand from when she accidentally touched a mushroom. I was afraid I'd stab the shroom wrong and it would fly and hit her and she'd have to be airlifted out of Epcot, or DD would get antsy and throw one at her.

Fortunately we survived the meal. It was delicious and entertaining. DD made it through the whole meal too, and my mom (who services were expected to be utilized with a potential cranky baby) waited the whole time in Japan under what she called "The Great Wall of China." :teeth:

After dinner we went back to the room, and DD and I went to Pop Jets and swimming. This was also the day I attempted to go to my first POP DIS meet! Unfortunately I only found one DISer also looking around, but it was great to meet her (Hi, CandeeApril!).

After our quick meet I went back to the room with DD who, at 10pm, was still awake. I sung her to sleep with the COP song, "Its a great big beautiful tomorrow..."

That's day three...tomorrow we went to MGM and saw Dan Zanes!
