Complaints about Virgin

Ruthie
Have you flown with virgin before? Do you have any points from previous flights? I did the same thing -booked my holiday package through Virgin and then found the flights cheaper through virgin atlantic(whom I thought were the same company but apparently not) by a few hundred pounds.I phoned them up (virgin) and told them this but they wouldn't price match so I just transferred the deposit and had the accomdation.DDP and tickets through them and booked the flights through VA.I gave found them to be a bit slack with there e-mailing and letter responses and it took about 3 months to get our issue sorted when we went with them last november for our wedding. But give them their dues we had vouchers back to put towards this holiday we are ding in July.
Good luck and I hope you manage to sort it out. :rotfl: :cool1:

I've experienced pricing problems for Easter 08 too. I originally booked a full package but then later, like you, decided to change it to a Fly Drive. However, they haven't applied the correct child price. I only know this as when I received the invoice I checked each item against the brochure. I emailed them but haven't had any sort of response yet. In my case they appear to have overcharged by £50, but to be out by £800 is ridiculous.

Have you read the brochure thoroughly and checked their pricing? Or try pricing up the holiday on their website. I very much doubt you'd get them to honour the orignal quote. It may have been different if they hadn't realised their mistake and you'd received an invoice stating the figures.

Good luck and I hope you get it sorted.

Thanks to everyone for all the posts.

Crabbie - I have flown before but only as part of a package holiday, do these qualify for miles and do you have to register?

Thanks

Pinklepurr- do you mind me asking how much your flydrive is and why you changed to no accomodation?

Thanks

To claim miles on a VA flight you need to be registered with their Flying Club. You can only claim once you are a member and it cannot be on flight already taken, unless you are a member and then they can be backdated upto 6 months previously. I managed to do this in 2003 as I was a member from 2002 but DH wasn't so he lost the chance to add his 2003 points and had to start once he had registered in 2004.

Boo, sorry it was in answer to Claire about what they had left off the quote.

Did they not go through each item with you during the booking? I always get a breakdown of prices as we go along and it makes sure everything is included.

Claire ;)

Hi Claire
Thanks for the info on the flying club.
The lady didn't go through all the details, she just said the price was to keep everything the same with no accomodation and I said 'the flights will be the same and the upgraded car and platinum insurance?' and she said 'yes, everything the same'.

Thanks

Can I ask what the two quotes actually came out to be as £800 is a huge difference for the same dates, flights etc?

Claire ;)

Sorry to be a pain what dates was that and for how many people? Just trying to work out how they could of messed up so bad.

Hi
I meant I would just let virgin keep the deposit and move it to another virgin holiday, and pay for the other one separately. I checked with the website for flydrives for that time but there are none available for that day and the next 8 days otherwise I could have done a totally new booking. We still want to go on those dates so I thought as we had seats on that flight booked for us anyway, we could just change to a flydrive.

Thanks for all the advice.

I do not see why you would lose your deposit if you are just changing some details to the holiday and the flights you had booked would certainly stay the same if still travelling on the same dates.

Claire ;)

For your holiday dates it would be £2644.00 and if online booking get 5% off so £2515.80, but as you say those specific dates are all booked.

Claire ;)

Our itinerary is as follows:

2 adults & 2 children
23 Mar 08 - 10 night fly drive into/out of Orlando. LGW departure.
Prem Econ on return sector
Platinum car insurance
C4 (basic grade) car

I will have to dig out the invoice and let you know how much we've paid (it was far from cheap) but we had originally booked into the Disney Caribb Beach but decided that we wanted more space so have booked a villa independently. We got 10% off the hol price as we booked in January during a special weekend offer but they still let us have 10% off the new hol cost, although it was less as the overall hol cost came down.

I'll try and give you the breakdown of the hol cost later.

What dates are you going?

PP

Hi

claire-thanks for all your hard work doing those figures, looking at those that makes the 2nd quote pretty close. sorry i should have said that we are going in the easter school holidays which are slightly different for us next year.

pinkle-our dates are april 1-15th as our school closes later next year.

thanks all:)

Y9ou need to write to the UK office, the Indian call centre is very bad on things like this. When the deposit has been paid the contract is formed, but they do have terms that allow them to vary it. Howeve,rt I do know of a case where this happened and after a letter to the UK they did honour the orgial proce quoted. No matter what they have told you it is likey they do have the record of the conversation etc.
