Comparing the 3 Resort Hotels

Besides the different architectures and ambiances, what are the "real" room differences between the Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier and Grand Californian? For instance, are the beds different at one or are the bathrooms larger and with more amenities at the other?

Rooms at DLH and PP are larger then the rooms at GC. The amenties (soap, shampoo, etc) at GC are better.

What about the beds? Specifically, the mattresses - soft, hard, in-between? The beds at the Beach Club at WDW were sooooo comfy, I'd like something similar.

Sorry can't help with that. The only onsite I've stayed at is PP. I havent stayed at the others. The beds there were fine. We are tired after a long day and could sleep just about anywhere! LOL

The main difference I find is the theming, the pools and slight differences in rooms. The pool at Paradise Pier is nice, but it is not Disney themed or even really themed in any particular way. Grand Californian and DisneyLand Hotel both have nicer pool areas. The only difference I noticed in the rooms is that the Paradise Pier and Disneyland Hotel are both older and as such can show a bit of wear and tear, particularly in the washrooms, this is nothing major, usually like some chips on the bath tub or something.

The best part for me is proximity and GC is extremely close to both parks, Paradise Pier is directly across the road from GC and is second closest, and Disney Land hotel is furthest away of the three, although it does have the monorail fairly close.

I really like the Grand Californian but it is a huge price jump from the Paradise Pier and a decent jump from the DLH. I'd suggest the PP or GC with the GC being a much more refined hotel in general than either of the other two DLR hotels.
