Could anyone that has stayed at both or used both help me out. We are going next July with 2 adults and a 3 yr old DS and almost 9 yr old DS. My older DS wants to stay at POFQ because of the serpant slide but I keep hearing that this pool is better for little ones. I don't want him to be bored with the slide after one try. On the other hand will the POR pool be too much for my 3 yr old. My 3 yr old is a little daredevil and does anything that his older brother does. I am having a very hard time deciding if we should stay at POFQ or POR. I would hate to choose one and then end up living at the other resorts pool due to my children liking it better. I know we can use both but am trying to decide which resort would be better as home base so to speak. Especially since this is a longer trip for us and we will be there for 11 nights and both of my boys are water guppies so the pools are very important! Thanks in advance for any help:)

I put in my vote for the POR pool. It's larger with more seating and shade (which could be good with 3 yr. old). Neither waterslide is enough the keep a kid entertained all day, but either should be fun for several runs. There's also just more to do overall at POR for a long stay since it has the sit down restaurant and marina.

French Quarter.
Although your 9 year old might be bored with the slide at FQ the one at Riverside might be too much for your 3 year old.
I found Riverside Pool to be much more crowded and harder to keep an eye on the kids. Easier to get Food/Drinks at FQ
It is really not that much effort to get to Riverside to use the other pool.
My advice is Stay at FQ and being that you are staying so long do not head over to the River side Pool until day 6 or 7, I fyou you head over too early in the stay you might end up with Him wanting to keep going back.
My Eight year old thought the Serpent Slide was great........until she went on the one at Riverside. (sdhe thought the one at Riverside was great until ..... we hit the one at Stormalong Bay.)

FYI we moved from POFQ to BCV this past April

Hi again Kathy. :) Ya know what you should do since you're undecided? Split your stay between POR and POFQ! Then you get to try both out. :teeth:

Sabor...Good idea not to expose him to the POR too early if we end up picking FQ:) That could eliminate most of our headaches right there.

DCSingle...You have mentioned some of the things that keep pulling me back to undecided...marina rentals only at POR and also sit down restaurant only at POR

Liz...Hi Again:) Yes we are still trying to figure this one out. I already tried the split stay option with my DH but since we are staying for so long he really does not want to deal with changing resorts. That is OK we are just trying to make the best choice for the ages of our kids and also for us. I am sure in the end POFQ will win out since that is the one my older son has been picking out from the beginning.

I think one of my fears of POFQ is that it is just over the top Mardis Gras. I have honestly never been interested in Mardis Gras itself...way too many people in one space at one time for my liking. At least at DW they are spread out between resorts, parks etc. From what I can tell the Food Court seems to me to be the most themed with Mardis Gras and the rest just looks beautiful with landscaping and very pretty buildings. Would that be a correct assessment??

I am also not into Mardi Gras, and the Mardi Gras decor at POFQ is certainly not over the top or too much. Yes, as you said it is in the food court, and it's also along the walkway towards the pool and the pool area. I thought it was all very well done.

Good luck with your decision!! :)

Thanks Liz:) Sounds like you and me have very similar tastes. It was very hard how to phrase that so I am glad that you understood what I meant. Thanks for all of your insight. We took a family vote tonight and POFQ was the clear winner so we will be making our reservations very soon:) Thanks again!!

POFQ is my favorite Disney resort. You will love it there. Having stayed at both POR and POFQ, I find the pool at POFQ to be larger than the one at POR. Don't know what the stats are on the size of these two pools though. You can use both pools while staying at POFQ as they are sister resorts. It's always fun to take the boat down to POR and spend some time at their pool too. Just consider it a Disney outing at no cost and those are hard to find!!

We stayed at POR and visited POFQ. My 2 DS's (9&11) liked the slide at POR lots more. They always enjoyed the quiet pools. I think they were just happy to be swimming!
I found the FoodCourt at POR to have more favorable choices over POFQ's. The only thing they ate all of was the biegnets, the rest (including my ribs) were wasted cause they tasted "yucky". DS-8 wouldn't touch his hotdog and he was bugging me for one all day.
They got the biggest kick out of exploring the paths around POR and feeding the chipmunks fries! We "found" 4 of the 5 quiet pools during our explorations, so of course we had to swim in each one too!
I felt POR was more family-friendly with the trails and such, not a concrete-city.

Thanks everyone you are giving us lots to think about. Just when I think we have made up our minds for POFQ then someone tells me something great about POR. Honestly they both sound great and I am sure that we will have a great trip either way. My DH keeps teasing me that he is going to flip and coin and then block me from these boards. Have you ever heard such blasphemy:) LOL. Of course he is only kidding he wants us to pick the right place as much as I do. Thanks again!
