Companion Restrooms

I agree it has a lot to do with staffing. The crowds have increased and staffing seems to have decreased which equals lower cleanliness standards. With increased crowds, there are naturally more messes and yes, people are slobs and leave bathrooms a mess. If they are going to focus on increasing crowds, they need to staff for it. IMO I get that the bean counters want to save every penny and this, unfortunately, is a way to do that.
Especially if people respond by blaming other patrons instead of them.

On 2 trips in 2 months we saw constant attention to the bathrooms. There was a CM in there regularly. We don't use companion bathrooms, though.

The other guests are to blame, that can't even be up for debate. I do think people have more of a "It is not my job, they will clean up after me" attitude than they used to.

Where I work we share a restroom with the public. Maybe one day I will cease to be amazed and how quickly a spotless restroom can be trashed. No excuse for not flushing, peeing on the seat and not cleaning it, wiping your feces on the wall, tossing paper towel on the floor instead of a trash basket.

No place should have to have someone constantly in the restroom just to clean up after guests.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. I don't disagree that the guests are getting worse and making the messes.

But it's Disney's house. The buck stops with them. Unless they can figure out a way to get guests to stop making messes, they're going to have to staff at a level to clean up after people.

Based on our more recent trip experiences, I think they do a great job of keeping up given the high volume of traffic and messy guests.

On our trips in 2016 and 2017 we specifically noted to guest services how many times we ran into CMs cleaning the restrooms and that it was a big improvement over previous years when we often saw garbages overflowing, etc.

You can tell when a few guests have been messy vs. a problem that has built up over hours. We have not experienced anything recently where a restroom looked totally abandoned and unattended for hours. Maybe we are going to the right bathrooms! :)

That has been my experience during recent trips as well. I'm hyper aware of the bathroom conditions, as so much negative is posted. And I can't come up with one that looked like it had been abandoned for any length of time. More often than not there was someone actively cleaning them.
