I'll be flying out of Indy to MCO and back this month with my DGS 9 (small in size). I just am not comfortable sending him into the men's room alone. I just don't think I can bring myself to do that, and I'm wondering what I will do when I need to go to the restroom. Does anyone know if there are companion restrooms at MCO and at Indy? TIA

Well I know at MCO as you are leaving the gate area there is a Mothers' nursing / changing area that also has a private bathroom. It's been pretty empty the times I've used it to change my son's diaper before/after flights. We did "surprise" some airport employees that seemed to want to use it for a little private meeting spot, but they left quickly when they saw my son. :)

You'd want to scout it out before heading in with your grandson. If there were a nursing mom in there he might get an eyefull. I can't recall anything specific about the regular bathrooms.

Thanks, Valerie. I appreciate that information. As far as I'm concerned, I'd just take him in the women's restroom with me. He wouldn't see anything in there - it's not like there are open stalls or anything, but he might be embarrassed. I just don't want to take any chances of anything happening to him by sending him into a men's restroom alone. There's so much going on in the world today, I want to be protective of him.

Here's a link to the Orlando Airport website, the specific page about Companion Restrooms. If you look at the links at the left side of the page, there is a link to the Passenger Terminal page. That area includes maps of the terminal.

I have not been in the Men's rooms, but the Ladies' Rooms have nice stalls. The handicapped stalls are very large and include a toilet and a sink.

Hello: did you see my post? I'm doing an article on kids who use wheelchairs and their visit to DisneyWorld. I'm looking for kids between 8-12 who would be willing to tell me about their experience in Disney. Would you and your son be interested if he fits the age group?

See my post Need subjects for magazine article

Thanks!

DJT - Hi! I frequently travel with my DS8 and DD4 alone to visit relatives and I understand the problem. Frequently we use the companion restrooms. However, there have been times when they have been unavailable for different reasons and I bring both kids into the regular restroom with me. My son is embarrassed and horrified but I explain in no uncertain terms that I would rather he is mad at me than kidnapped and whisked on a plane to who knows where. So, if you have to bring him in the regular rest room with you, don't worry, he'll get over it quickly. :thumbsup2
