Hi everyone! I have only had one stay as a DVC member so far and I haven't been in a community hall yet. Can someone fill me in as to what is in one? Thanks everyone, I am just a bit curious.:goodvibes

At SSR, they have a ping pong table, foosball table, video game systems, a TV, an activity room with tables for crafts, a place to rent movies (DVC is free), and a kiln (you can do ceramics)

OKW has a pool table, foosball, pingpong, movie rentals (DVC is free), no extra room for crafts.

those are the 2 we have experienced.

Cool thanks! Are there fees for the activities?

All Community Halls have some activities that are free and some that you must pay for. When you check into SSR, you will get a print-out of all the activities of the week. I believe you also get one from OKW during check-in. If you want a brochure for the BW Community Hall you must go there because they do not have them at the front desk.

In general, the community halls are just a nice place to sit and relax during your trip. :D

We got sheets at OKW. My DD10 LOVES Community Hall at OKW. Last April our days in the parks were planned around these activities. She has already made plans to be around for this April too.

Excellent, thanks everyone! I will definitely check it out the next time that I am at one of the resorts with community halls. :thumbsup2

Not all of the resorts have a community room. Seems only SSR, OKW and BWV. My grandson really liked OKW last year (he was 13yo then). He's been to the one at BWV too, but OKW was his favorite.

True. AKV will have a community hall.

While BCV does not have a community hall, they do have several kids activities and a schedule of them that they hand out during check-in. This includes pool parties, crafts, movies on the beach, Nintendo Wii, and even ceramics.

Out of curiosity, does VWL have one? My next 2-3 trips will be at AKV before Kidani opens. So, I won't be at a resort with one until either December if I move my resort at 7 months or maybe next year. However, I have been curious about them. Thanks everyone.

No, VWL is another DVC resort that does not have a community hall.

My boys like the BWV Community Hall. I really don't see the big deal. I do like going to get a DVD to watch, and I hung out there with my sis and her family the day we were waiting for our ME pick-up. The staff is really friendly. Other than that, no big whoop for me. I'd rather be at the pool. :confused3

Over Easter we were there for 9 days, and only went to park for 3 ( one of which as BB).

DD-9 loved community hall, making friends, swimming, that she didn't want to go anywhere else.

Staff treated DD like a queen. This is OKW strength, I think..

It must be that 7 - 12 yo set that just loves the CHs.

My DD11 loved it. I'm not sure how many games of Air Hockey we played at the BWV CH. She just loved it.

Here is what I know about BWV....

BWV - Air Hockey, Fooseball, Ping Pong, DVD Rentals, Large TV, 2 Video Games (not sure what system they were), Things to borrow (including a croquet set to use on the Croquet lawn and life jackets) and crafts.

My DD10 is only doing 1 day in Epcot and a P&PP one nightt the whole week when we go in April again. She is sooooo looking forward to the activities at OKW. Last April we only spent 4 hours in Epcot the whole entire week :scared1: She had stuff scheduled everyday. We even let her charge on her key card. It was very convenient, we could sit by the pool/door and sun while she was in there being Ms. Independant.

I also agree on the pool/friends. I think because OKW is somewhat out of the way, its easier to have a relaxing vacation and not so much hustle & bustle.

Thanks to all who replied. I was interested in this, too.
