Can someone explain the community Halls to me. We've always stayed at BCV and I've never found one there. :confused3 I've been reading about SSR and people talk about how fabulous the Community Hall is. I understand there are games, etc. there. Are these board games, organized games? Are there CMs on duty? Is this a place where my DD, almost 11, can meet other kids?
TIA

There is no community hall at BCV or WLV. There are CM's on duty there and they run the organized activities there like arts and crafts. At the community hall at BWV(the only one we've actually spent time at) you can rent movies for your room. They sell popcorn, have a tv where you can watch movies. There are comfy chairs, large table with chairs for crafts, toys for the little ones too. There are video games and computer as well as an air hockey table. They do different crafts at certain times and a schedual is posted with examples of the crafts. There are also board games. It's just a place where kids, and families can hang out. The community hall at SSR is much bigger than at BWV. We saw it after taking a tour of the resort. We couldn't believe the size and the huge tv, They had alot more stuff in there too! We love taking advantage of the community hall just to have some down time.

Actually, VWL DOES have the spike room that is a community room with a fireplace, tables and chairs, comfy couches etc.

We were walking through SAB and saw a CM sitting a child size table coloring all by himself! I wished we were staying there so we could have played with him. ;)

When we stayed at SSR during one of the hurricanes last year, the community hall at SSR also had games you could borrow to use in your room. We borrowed scrabble, and trivial pursuit.

I don't know if BWV community hall does the same thing.

I think the difference between the Community Hall's and the common rooms are the daily scheduled activities.

When we were at SSR in Dec 2004, at checkin, we received a calendar with the CH activities listed for each day. The CH's are staffed continuously and often when we stopped by, they had cookies out on the tables, video games, ping pong table, books, games, movies as well as the scheduled daily activities some of which required a small fee for supplies (like decorate a mug and the mug was $4).

SAB normally has a recreation CM that will lead the children in Pool Games or other Pool side activities. We enjoyed a game of Beach Ball volleyball there last year, but that is only like an hour a day and nothing like a CH.

I dont recall any organized activities at VWL, but you could check your kids into the Cub's Den for a fee and they have activities there.

Community Hall at BWV is one of my dd's favorite things in the world. She actually asked to go there rather than a park last Nov!!! She is 11 and loved the crafts and the air hockey game. In fact, she wore the t-shirt she made there in Nov to school today!! When we stay at BCV in June, she has already asked if she can go to CH at BWV. It looks like we'll be asking if it's okay for her to participate if we're at BCV.

This is exactly the kind of information I was hoping for. :cool1:
DD has participated in the pool games at SAB, but that's only for an hour or so. Where was the poor CM having to color all by himself? I'll round up some nieces to keep him company next time we're at BCV. :hyper2:
Are the activities, especially the crafts, at SSR's CH all day or just at set times? Could DD11 hang out at the CH while I do laundry?
