Commercials on Christmas Day...

Anyone else think the commercials on tv on Christmas Day were for an awful lot of violent games???

I think every commercial we saw for an X-Box game was about war, killing, death, murder, battles...geez, so much for Peace on Earth!

Guess there's no video game version of Candyland, is there? Maybe I am living in the past, or being old-fashioned, but can't kids play something else besides "for mature players only" games???

Some would say it is a reflection of how much our kids want to feel things, that they're so inured by living in our society today, that such games fill a need that we've not been fulfilling for them otherwise.

Of course, that's just what some would say...

It's somehow OK for there to be games like Call of Duty, but not Quake or Halo.

Usually the commercials reflect the show you are watching. As long as the games are accurately rated I don't see any problem with them being created and advertised.

We were watching "A Christmas Story" most of the time.

Maybe I'm just a lover, not a fighter....

They're simply pushing what is in high demand nowadays. And it's not just kids playing these games.

Which makes me wonder if all that many kids like "A Christmas Story"? My 12 year old unfortunately thinks it's lame.

All I know is we were watching the NBA at my dad's house, and we lost count of how many times that Sirius/Howard Stern commercial ran--the one where the guy was going to give his wife an "I want a divorce" cake but cancels it when she gives him sirius.

My brother, sister-in-law and 2 nieces (12 & 15) were watching figure skating on Oxygen Channel on Christmas in the late afternoon/early evening. I thought some of the commercials were inappropriate. One talked about a place to buy "intimacy gel, cleansing cloths and condoms"!

I forgot about the lovely Trojan commercial. Of course, by that time we were watching James Bond on Spike TV.....
