Overall, the place is nice. I understand that it is not completed yet but here are my comments on my recent 4 day stay there:

Good:

Rooms are very nice. We stayed in a studio overlooking Downtown Disney. Nice lake breeze. Studio very classy looking the way it was decorated.

Nice quiet pool. Very pretty, good size

New style comfortable lounge chairs at pools. Much better than those plastic ones elsewhere.

Staff was friendly as ever

Poor:

NO SHADE at the pools, the main pool or quiet pool. Even when some of the few trees grow in, they still will not provide enough shade. This was a little rough bec it was 91 degrees last week and it's May. NEEDS UMBRELLAS!!

Artist Palette Dining:

Not sure how they are going to be able to serve food to anybody....seating is VERY limited to some tables inside. NO tables located outside and a sign by the tables by the pool area indicates no food.

VERY limited food choices but I am hoping this is just bec it was a soft opening.

The two buildings that were open (overlooking DD) is quite a far walk to the main pool if you wanted to go. They could easily put in a small walking bridge that would help.

Far to walk to get to the DD boat. Almost too far.

No food service by the pool or even available thru the bar

In looking at the future plans, there are two buildings that are located quite far from a quiet pool AND the main pool. It looked like it would be a pain to get to a pool.

The buildings were nice but blah. There was a bldg made to look like a cinema but it seemed to be just offices. Would be cool if they showed old Disney flicks there.

These are just a couple of observations. Overall it was nice but needs to work. Hopefully Disney will be open to suggestions as I am planning on writing them.

We made a quick stop at SSR last week, and didn't think it was too far from the buildings to the pool. I figured about 5 minutes tops to make the trip. How long did you find it took?

I don't know that another bridge would help. If I recall, the pool is almost a straight line from the resort parking lot, across the bridge, and up the "block" of buildings representing the common area. A bridge further up the canal might cut a minute off of the trip, but only for folks in the one building that is open now. I just don't seem them building a foot bridge with such limited appeal.

No "almost" about it...the dock is in a horrible location. And that's even considering that the first building is one of the closest to the dock. From some of the later construction you'd be better off walking to DD.

Unless something has changed, that building IS a functional cinema. The DI had an actual cinema, and it has been rehabbed for SSR. No announcements as to how the building will be utilized--probably due to the limited guest capacity of the resort thus far.
