Comments on character meal at Liberty Tree Tavern please :)

My girls are crazy about the PBS kids show, Liberty's Kids. As a result, they are totally into early American history and such. I thought a character meal at Liberty Tree Tavern would be fun. How is it? How's the food? Character interaction? Is it true that Mickey isn't there--just Minnie, Goofy, and C & D?

It's my husband's favorite character meal. We do it every time now. When we have been there, the character interaction was wonderful-- Minnie sat at the tables, teased/ flirted with someone at most tables-- actually, every character stopped at our table at least twice-- we got a late seating but it was booked. Everyone was dressed in colonial clothes, you get a parchment like menu to take with you, and the food is solidly good---- kind of like a Thanksgiving meal maybe-- three meat selections, etc.-- rolls almost as good as my mother's. Yes there is no Mickey. We've had the best character meal ever there. I really liked how the restaurant was set up, you kind of have little areas of privacy. The food is so-so, Thanksgiving type stuff, Stouffers mac and cheese which DS just loves - lol! If your girls are into American history then they will love this place.

I am probably in the minority here, but we weren't overly impressed with the character dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. The characters were very good, but the food was blah, and the service wasn't very good, either. The atmosphere is very much like a colonial inn that you would find in Colonial Williamsburg, VA.

The characters were Goofy, Minnie, Pluto and Chip and Dale, and they are dressed in colonial garb.

I am glad we tried it once, but we aren't in a huge hurry to go back.

Food is too heavy for a summer trip through the kingdom. maybe in the winter, but I wouldn't recommend it in the warmer months

I just saw this show on PBS the other day and it's fantastic. I think if you're daughters are into this kind of thing they would really enjoy this meal. Everyone is dressed in period garb and the food is pretty straight forward fare, but very tasty. Your characters are Goofy, Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale. Without a doubt my favorite character meal.

Go ahead and do it! It's a traditional Thanksgiving-type meal except with roast beef and pork as well as turkey. Like eeyore0062 I was not impressed with the food, but then I've only done it once. My service and character interaction were very good, and the atmosphere is just what you're looking for. And who knows, maybe the food will be good for your meal! You won't go away hungry.

If it were strictly good food you were looking for, I'd suggest Garden Grill at Epcot instead. A similar type of meal but the food is much better.

LTT is a yearly tradition for our family. My DH and I have been
going there since we were dating and we now go enjoy with our
two daughters. The character interaction has always been great
since its a sit-down family-style meal rather than a buffet and we
have always enjoyed the food. We had my husband's b-day dinner there two years ago and it was a lot of fun. Also, we go to LTT for the MNSSHP and that is really great--the waiters/waitresses were all dressed like the haunted mansion characters and everyone was having a great time. Also Minnie, C&D and Goofy were all in costume. Another idea if you don't want to have a character meal is to have lunch there. The lunch food is a regular menu, not family style and there's lots of colonial style choices. Have fun and enjoy!!

We found LTT on a whim on our first
visit. We were in MK, my DH said lets
try LTT. We waited about 20 min without
a PS. Now it's my Dh favorite meal.
Chip & Dale are a hoot.
Goofy is ... well goofy.
Minnie is cute in her Colonial outfit.

Lighting is great for pictures.
Some of our best with characters.

My DS loved the turkey and ham.
My DD loved the mac & cheese.

It will be out last dinner at WDW
this year

It's standard comfort food. Good, but nothing to write home about.
The character interaction has been good when we have eaten there.
Not a bad place. But not my first choice. Although MK doesn't have enough good choices, IMHO.
Not as hectic with that crowded feeling as Crystal Palace.

Liberty Tree Tavern is one of our must dos every trip. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
