Comment on Whitewater Snacks

Hey I saw that! Ok, Maybe I'm am nuts but that doesn't mean the chicken sandwhich isn't wonderful! The all white meat, roasted chili pepper and guacamole make it yummy! Haven't had the burger. DH and I split a chicken sand are full that made it about $4 or $5 person, not 10. The nachos are ok, but not the best. I actually like "fake" cheese, but I do like thinner chips. And everytime we have gone, it has not been packed and we've been when parks were almost at capacity. They also have outdoor seating with heaters for winter time. I do agree with my sister on Taste Pilots grill. We had the chicken sandwhich there and it was thin and small. DH and I split that one and it wasn't enough for both of us.

I was wondering if you would see my little comment. The chicken sandwich does sound good. I'll have to try it for myself next time. The one at Storytellers is really good though. I think they put it on garlic bread or something which was really yummy but of course it would be more expensive than WWS.

Now, speaking of TPG, we thought the ribs were good there - especially for a counter service place and the price isn't bad if you split it. And we really like the full throttle fries but haven't had them since they switched them from criss-cut to regular fries.

We love WWS! We go at least once per trip, usually twice and have never had a bad experience. We have tried:

Chili Dog
Chicken Sandwich
Nachos - both steak and chick (YUM!!)
Breakfast Burrito
Breakfast Sandwich
Grilled Cheese (I think)

All have been very good. I do wish they had not recently increased prices. $9.99 is pretty pricey for nachos IMO but they are mighty good!

We unfortunately have never been impressed with any food at DLR with the exception of a few little snacks. It's the one and only thing I don't like about DLR.

I suppose we're just food snobs. We dont' mean to be but it is what it is. This is a major reason we bought into DVC and VGC - so that we could prepare our own food.

I have to agree! I rarely eat fast food so that eliminates the vast majority of what is found at DLR. I guess it isn't surprising since they have to serve so many people and in a timely manner. I'm ok with it but it would be nice to have a little more variety in the healthy food category that you don't have to buy off of a cart. At the other end of the spectrum, I'm not a gourmet, Napa Rose type either (mainly because I can't afford it, I think). I have found a few meals that I love so I tend to order those same things over and over. Some examples would be: lox and bagel (with cream cheese, tomato, cucumber and capers--oh, and onions for those that like them) at La Brea sit-down; their granola with strawberries; the grilled salmon on a plank at RFC; salmon salad at the little shack across from HM; surf and turf at BB; and some nice entrees at CC. None of those is particularly special but they are all quite tasty and better than burger, fries, soda and a churro

Now, as far as sweet snacks go, I like the junk I find there . Mickey ice cream bars, Mickey truffles, fancy dipped apples, etc etc are sometimes my meal. I know, I know--totally against my non-junk-food-eating credo, but I give myself some leeway when it comes to sweets on vacation

I like fake cheese and I like fast food, but I wasn't taken by the beef nachos at Whitewater Snacks. I suppose the chips WERE too thick, and I didn't think the cheese sauce had enough spice. I didn't care for the meat either.

The lovely company did not care for the meat either. My offering was snubbed!

(She didn't stay for very long but it was delightful visiting with her for a minute.)

My human friend, who is by no means a picky eater, got the pizza and was not impressed. It was annoying that they would not let her order the pizza a la carte; they made her get the salad, too, and she doesn't eat salad. (Which means I got a salad so it wasn't so bad for me....)

The atmosphere was nice (if chilly) when the park was not crowded a few weeks before Christmas. We were the only people eating outside, and just one other group was inside.

When the parks are crowded I can imagine it would be a good place to get away, whether or not the food is great.

Well, like almost everything at DLR it's overpriced and generic to 'fit' with so many people. In comparison though, we really enjoy WWS for breakfast (staying in a 1 BR villa..bringing breakfast makings..DH.."What? we have to have our WWS burrito!"...yes, but not EVERY day. The french dip used to be a favorite, but last time I didn't care for it. I love the thick chips and fake cheese on the nachos! Classic gloppy mess..yum. I should try that chicken sandwich...
I don't like Taste Pilots either..I run down to the corn dog place and then meet up with my group who are eating the ehhh burgers. My DH accidentally ordered the bleu cheese one (he isn't real good on observation or menu reading..thought it had a fun name) and hated it, but that one actually looked OK.
I'm one who didn't like Napa Rose..maybe I need to try it again...
I thought the potato soup everyone raves about at Carnation Cafe was OK..but it had that distinct mealy texture of frozen potatoes to me..still, I'd eat it again.

We've never eaten there for breakfast so I can't comment on that but we've had the french dip before which I think they no longer have?

The reasons we like it so much is its quiet but still so close to the action, the portions are much larger than in the parks so the kids feel full and dh and I can split a meal and we can get a refill on our soda before we leave and/or grab a dessert(brownie, mickey krispie treat etc) and not have a huge line to wait in.

I agree totally! WWS (or anywhere in Disneyland except the premium restaurants) is not where I would be expecting great cuisine. I have recommended WWS to a lot of people for the same reasons as PP above. If you want a burger and a nice break from the chaos of the parks, it is a good option. We always feel nice a refreshed and ready to go back at it after a nice quiet snack there.

BTW, we LOVE TPG, the Wild Bleu Yonder burger w/bleu cheese and BBQ is sooooooooooooooooo good.

I love blue cheese on burgers but I've tried TPG's several times and keep getting bland dried out burgers that I'm sure are not hot off the grill or anywheres close to it.

I've since gone to the Jazz Kitchen Express for a burger. Very good, juicy and inexpensive.

Yes, they are pricey. We have a hard time paying that much for CS so we like to split the larger plate so it doesn't seem so bad price-wise.

I guess I'm always so busy running off to get a corn dog that I never even knew TPG had ribs. I'll have to give those a try.

I think we will have to give them a try also. DH and I like to split most meals so that we have room to try lots of different things. And we don't like to go on rides stuffed to the gills.

TPG's BBQ ribs are good but pricey.

Everyone keeps saying that but I've never thought the burgers there were horrible. But honestly, I pile on the BBQ, the pickles, onions and more BBQ sauce so maybe that's why I don't notice it. LOL I gotta say I love the BBQ sauce they have there.

They do have ribs, they are good but I'm not a huge rib eater so I don't get them much.

I never buy cooked stuff at WWS. I buy already made sandwiches, salads, etc, and eat them by the pool or on my balcony.

Yes, GCH, east of the pool area and roughly adjacent to GRR and the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in DCA.

WWS's used to be one of the best kept secrets at the resort. We've been going there at least 4 times a year since the opened. But like most of the food offerings at the resort, WWS has been going downhill recently. The portions are noticeably smaller and the quality of the food is not nearly as good as it used to be. This is a stone cold fact. We still eat there occasionally as it is never really busy and the food comes out pretty fast.
