A lot of people have recommended Whitewater Snacks as a great place to grab a quick bite to eat. When we were there in January, my DH and I both tried the breakfast sandwich, I think it was called, with eggs, etc. on a biscuit. I have to say that after one or two bites, I looked at my DH and asked how he liked his. He said it was tasteless, and I totally agreed. It had to be the worst biscuit I had ever eaten in my life and the eggs and cheese just had no flavor at all. Granted, being a southern gal, I am particular about my biscuits, but that one was just awful and I couldn't even finish it.

Second worst biscuit was at Storytellers the next morning--more like a hockey puck than anything else.

So, I am wondering if we should we give Whitewater another try in May or not. Maybe a quick lunch or something would be worth it, but I don't think I can give biscuits another chance at the VGC--maybe I will have to hit Mimi's for my biscuit fix.

I too was not impressed by WWS. I had to try it (not for breakfast though) since so many here recommend it. We even went twice because we thought maybe the first experience was just off. Neither DH nor I were impressed by the food or the service. Both times we went, service was SO slow, and once the CM's behavior bordered on rude. The food didn't excite us at all. And I guess we were really unlucky, because the second time we went, it wasn't even a welcome respite from the park crowds since the place was PACKED and we couldn't get a seat. None of our family have any desire to try WWS again; too many other good options around.

I'd have to say if you didn't like it, to maybe give it another chance but everyone's different. We like it, but it's not outside the realm of possibility that it isn't for you.

After seeing all the great reviews of this place we stopped by on our last trip. Looked at the menu and prices and decided it was not for us. Too expensive for what you get and with a party of 6 it just was not worth it. Instead we found several places in DTD for a better meal at better prices.

I suppose it all depends on ones likes and dislikes as to the value they get. We were just not impressed with the food selection vs. prices.

I'm not a huge fan either in the sense that the food there isn't superb or anything special. However sometimes you can catch a nice quiet relaxing meal there and to me...that's why we go. However I dont go out of my way to eat there either. It's not for everyone :)

I stayed at the Grand Californian last week (April 17-24). I too was unimpressed by Whitewater Snacks, to say the least. My son and I both had cheeseburgers. It was the strangest-tasting burger I have ever had! :eek:My son's comment was that it tasted more like sausage. We had cheesburgers in California Adventure near Soarin' Over California, and they were they same awful burgers. And at Whitewater Snacks, we didn't have too many other food choices. So...I'd eat elsewhere.

For a pretty good burger we go to the Jazz Kitchen Express in Downtown Disney. Just a short walk through GCH. A cheeseburger is $5.99, double cheeseburger $6.99 and very good. Best value I've found so far.

I tried the burgers at Taste Pilots grill by Soar'n and they were aweful. Seemed dried out as if they'd been in warmers for too long and just bland. They're also more expensive.

We enjoyed the nachos from WWS. Other than that we have only picked up ice cream and little treats from them.

We stopped for breakfast once morning and my daughter and I shared the french toast sticks and strawberries and it was really good.

We did not experience the food to be tasteless or boring. We were 4 or 5 times.

I'm not a big biscuit eater. To be honest, biscuits aren't big in CA in general. The breakfast burrito is to die for. We get a side of fresh fruit and share the burrito and fruit. It's plenty and so delish. And it's a very California-ish meal!:)

The chicken sandwich with green chili strip and guac is really good, too. As are the nachos. I've had the burgers and they are ok.

Sorry you didn't have a good experience there. Glad you enjoyed other venues.

Yes, thank you! For awhile now, i've thought that I was the only one who thought that the burgers at TPG were not good. I had read reviews of people raving over them and so we tried them one day and discovered that they were just regular theme park style burgers. Edible (barely) but nothing to rave over, imo.

And about WWS. I have to say that I don't get it either. :confused3 My sister (pinkbudgie here on the DIS) loves that place and we went and didn't see what all the fuss was about. She really likes the chicken sandwich, which isn't what i ordered so maybe i need to try that next time. I had the french dip which was not that good and DH had the nachos which he thought were okay but they used the thick chips that we don't like and they use cheese sauce instead of regular cheese. Someday I'll have to try the chicken sandwich and see if it's really good or if my sister is just nuts. :rotfl: I have to say that the chicken sandwhich at Storytellers was really good so i'm not sure if WWS can compare to that.

We have been lucky enough to stay at GCH twice, and when I bring up trying DLH or PPH, the first thing DS (12) says is "No way! I don't want to give up Whitewater Snacks!":scared1:

Our favourite thing to do is head back to our room for a mid-afternoon break, swinging by WWS first to pick up an order of nachos, a couple mickey pretzels, some big ol' fountain drinks and of course, a beer for DH! ;)

For meal-time, we've only ever grabbed a quick to-go breakfast off the shelf, but it has completely won our hearts for snack-time!:cheer2:

We've eaten at WWS several times, probably 5 or 6 times, and have enjoyed it every time. Because of our frequent visits, we know what we like and if we can share an entree or two. The little kids like the kids meals, the nachos are huge and shareable. My DH ordered me a kids meal last time and it was just the perfect size for me.
I've never eaten there for breakfast. We have always gone for the noon time meal.

I am another un-fan of WWS. I had good service and the place itself was fine but I didn't like the food. I have tried it a few times and gone in but passed it up a few more. It reminds me of airport food. My dh once ordered snacks when he was down at the pool with the kids and had the worst service ever. I guarantee he won't be back.

For breakfast and lunch I have found much better food elsewhere. WWS is basic cafeteria food.

Glad it wasn't just us. I guess we may stick to muffins and juice from there in May. Not sure I would like the fake cheese on the nachos either.

I like WWS a lot....it is a great place to escape the crowds for just a little while. I think the food is decent too.

We have never had breakfast, only lunch items.

Of course, I'm not a big fan of the Plaza Inn...I was not impressed by the chicken dinner.

So, to each his own. If we all liked the same thing, think of the lines!

I can take it or leave it really. We've only done bfast at WWS but we enjoyed it. We got 2 plates and shared, it was too much food for DBF and I so the next day we shared a burrito, that was really good. The kids liked it because of the fresh fruit and they had cereal. LOL

BTW, we LOVE TPG, the Wild Bleu Yonder burger w/bleu cheese and BBQ is sooooooooooooooooo good. And they have onion rings, which I love so we always eat at TPG!! I've never been disappointed by the burgers there, and the chicken sandwiches are good as well.

Hey I saw that! Ok, Maybe I'm am nuts but that doesn't mean the chicken sandwhich isn't wonderful! :rotfl: The all white meat, roasted chili pepper and guacamole make it yummy! Haven't had the burger. DH and I split a chicken sand are full that made it about $4 or $5 person, not 10. The nachos are ok, but not the best. I actually like "fake" cheese, but I do like thinner chips. And everytime we have gone, it has not been packed and we've been when parks were almost at capacity. They also have outdoor seating with heaters for winter time. I do agree with my sister on Taste Pilots grill. We had the chicken sandwhich there and it was thin and small. DH and I split that one and it wasn't enough for both of us.
