Conclusion: if you are used to staying in 5 star hotels on holiday then this would probably not thrill you too much. If, like me, you are unused to luxury and get tickled pink by all the special touches then, you must do this at least once - you have to save, borrow, budget, whatever it takes, and experience just once the extra magic that is the DLH.

What a great great review of my all time favourite hotel. Especially the last paragraph.

But be warned you all: We did this once and we made our dream come true and booked the DLH but then afterwards the real hard time began: We could only think about the DLH and all other hotels seem so "not pink and beautiful" now. And so we had to go back 3 times (until now). And I have to pull myself together that I don’t change our next booking from SL to DLH.

It is tempting, Marcus, but what I paid for 3 nights (room only) at the DLH would pay for my 3 nights at the Holiday Inn at Christmas, plus return Eurostar tickets, plus my February stay (4 nights at Holiday Inn plus Eurostar tickets) with a couple of hundred Euros left over.

Oh, I hope that's not true Marcus! We can't afford it again... The same happened when we went to the Maldives - no other beach ever looks as good now.

I agree that DLH is lovely and I do keep pricing other Disney hotels but the Pink Palace just keeps popping back in I wouldn't mind trying some of the other hotels though and as I've just looked at the prices for next year I think we may have to tbh - I don't think we can afford the DLH again!.... With regard to the 5 star comparison - I've been in better 5 stars and worse ones too - I think overall, the DLH does exude luxury and that is what you are paying for (as well as the location in a big way)...
