Coming in late...need advise/opinion

Hi all, it has been a long time since we last came in very late. With the kids in college we will be arriving at 11:50 pm on Friday for our September trip. We could leave on Thursday at the same time.

In the past we always stayed at a different resort if we came in late, to avoid getting the room no one else wanted, lol. Would that still be the best course of action? We are staying in Kidani and there is a Jambo Villas available for that first night. It would make for an easy luggage move and a quick morning check-in at Kidani.

What would you suggest, what is your experience, or what is your opinion?

Or, honestly, we have found staying at the airport hotel nice for a late flight. But of course our kids and preteen age and grumpy (while claiming not to be grumpy) around that time. We stay in the airport hotel that night, grab a ride over in the morning, store luggage with bell services and head out for the day. We check into our Disney room online and put down an early arrival, but always say our preferences are more important than check in time.

I agree with grabbing an airport hotel room, get to sleep, and head out the next morning to the resort. Store bags with bell services and start enjoying your vacation.

If you were staying in the same room I would say just check in late. But you have to move rooms anyway so I would say stay in a cheaper hotel the first night, go to the Disney hotel early and check in the next morning.. The room will probably not be ready but if it isn't you can use the resort or go to the parks. Why pay the super premium for the Disney Resort if you are not getting much benefit from it. You will still have to check out of one room at 11 am and not be able to check in to the other till 4 PM. These late night arrivals are the times we usually use our points at other hotel chains or the free nights they give away with credit cards.
