Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that I can get some feedback from some knowledgeable people on here. My group of 9 are flying in to Miami on Aug. 16th and we're taking a Greyhound bus from Miami down to Orlando. We won't get to Orlando until about 9:30 pm. So my question is whether we can get a rental car at the bus station to then take us to our hotel. We're staying offsite at the Quality Inn Plaza on International drive. Keeping in mind that it going to be 9 people with luggage so we'll either need a big vehicle or 2 smaller ones.

Thanks in advance for any help you folks can give.

Have you thought about nixing the bus and just renting and driving from Miami. It would save the hassle of having to rent a car(s) late at night.

If you are flying out of Orlando there may be a drop off charge but I would think its less than 9 bus tickets.

ETA: As a lark I checked and for the 9 of you its going to cost around $400 for the bus tickets. :scared1:

You know we did think about that but as we don't live in the US and none of us are really familiar with driving there we felt that the bus would have been better. It's still cheaper than flying from MIA to MCO and we were hoping to see some of the state on the way down.

Well to each his own.

If you Google around the Orlando greyhound station there are a few rental places with in walking distance. You just have to make sure they are open.

As for the vehicle to get. Most of the regular rental car companies don't rent large vans(13-15 passenger). There are some specialty rental places but I don't know if they are at all near the bus station and when they are open.

Good Luck

PS The drive from Orlando to WDW has the same kind of roads as driving from Miami, you will just be driving longer. Also do you have to go back to Miami to fly home?

Yes, we do have to go back to Miami to fly back home. But we're planning on staying an extra 2 nights in Miami before we leave for home. I know that it may not make the most sense by taking the bus but quite a few ppl in the group seemed to have preferred that option.

Thanks for the tip, I'll see what I can come up with using google.

Unless things have changed, I think the Greyhound station in downtown Orlando is in a very iffy neighborhood. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable rolling in there at night.

Have you looked at the charter company shuttles? They tend to be a bit more up-market, and they take you to the touristed areas rather than downtown Orlando.

This entry mentions a few of them: http://gomiami.about.com/od/transportationparking/a/miamitoorlando.htm

Greyhound also has a stop in Kissimmee
