heading to Disney next month. Anyone wear Crocs to the park? Are they comfy for the long day and should we wear socks w/ them? Any other suggestions?

PS: I HATE it when my feet are hot, so I just don't think I can do tennies.:cool2:

Just the thought of Crocs make me :scared: I wore normal flip flops- Skechers to be exact and they were great.

After reading all the posts I bought my first pair for my trip last May - they were wonderful! I bought the Mary Jane style, I wanted a back strap but I liked their more streamlined style.

Even the day where we started at 9:00 am and stayed at MK til midnight, I had no foot problems (yes they were tired, but not hurting and no blisters)

I also read the whole sock no sock thing - I went no socks and had no problems.

As for looks - about half the people are wearing them! They are sold all over the parks (as well as the cute jibbitz!) You will not feel out of place in them.

They are wonderful for the water rides - there is nothing for the water to stay soaked in.

That said - I want to wear them more at home but do feel self conscious in them, do you think that could be the bright fushia color I bought?

Have a great trip!

We have been twice and crocs with no socks are what my feet love the best!

I wouldn't wait until Disney to see if your feet like the Crocs all day (with or without socks). Give them a test run at home or when your out and about on the weekend since not everyone can wear them without a problem. I'm envious of those who can wear them 24/7 while at Disney and no blisters or having to switch out footwear, but a lot of folks do have issues and either switch shoes or blister pretty badly. Just give yourself a dry run before you go. Aching feet are terrible on vacation.

I recently came back our Disney trip. I bought Crocs for the kids a few days before we left for our trip. I made the kids wear nothing but the crocs for days hoping that would break the shoes in.
At the parks, my daughter mostly rode in the stroller. My son had trouble walking and getting blisters on the top of his feet. He kept tripping over the chunky front of the shoe. By the middle of park 1, he was getting blisters.
I wore a generic type of crocs and got blisters in the same spot. The shoes rubbed our feet and it hurt. We were limping by the end of the day.
The second park (we only did two parts), my son and I decided to wear sneakers. He did better but my feet hurt worse. My socks were being pulled down in the heal part and I got blisters. I ended up having to go shoeless when possible and then walked on my shoes the rest of the day.

i love my beach crocs and can wear them all day every day, w/ or w/o socks(except when i wear them in the airport, i always wear socks). my mom wore her maryjanes in nyc yesterday when it was pouring rain and she found them to be a little slippy. whatever you wear, give yourself PLENTY of time to break them in and have a backup of something else you are very comfortable in. for me it will be a pr of chaco sandals. and real crocs are the way to go. actually i've found that even w/crocs brand, i haven't had a pr quite as comfy as my first pr, i don't know why...

We just got back from a trip in May and me as well as my two daughters (aged 2 and 4) wore crocs without socks for the entire trip...No blisters..The girls rode in the stroller a lot, but I had no problems either....I wore the Croc flip flops.....super comfy!!! I brought tennis shoes but never even took them out of the suitcase.

My child insists on wearing Crocs all the time even though they make her more trip-prone. He stumbles constantly. They don't seem to bother his feet though. I, however, broke down and bought a pair and I can't even wear them without socks to go get the mail without rubbing blisters on the tops of my feet. With socks, they are okay, but not firm enough for fast walking, IMO. I do, however, love, love, love Crocs flip-flops. They were the only thing I wore on my last trip. I finally had to trash both pair because they were totally worn out. They also tend to lack traction on wet surfaces (Crocs, in general, not just the flips).

I just broke down and purchased a pair for my kids and myself-my Husband
refuses to wear them because he says they are ugly. I agree with that.
Do any of you find that your feet get hot? I have only been wearing mine around the house and to walk the dog down the street and back ( At night cause they are ugly) It seems that a lot wear to disney so i would fit in with them.

I find that my kids can't walk well in crocs, forget run in them. They trip and fall constantly in them because they're so roomy and loose. (if you go to the crocs website they tell you how to properly fit them and they are supposed to be loose). They also got blisters on the side by the rivet thing after the first wear, so I definitely wouldn't try out any new shoe for the first time when you're at WDW. I got my kids sandals from Stride Rite - I think they are Sperry and they are great. No rubbing, no blisters, no problems walking/running, and they're great as water shoes, too.

As for me, I just won't wear them. I got a pair of Keen Catalina sandals that are so comfortable I can wear them all day and barely even notice I have shoes on.

Whatever you decide, be sure to bring a backup!

Both my daughter & I got large blisters where the "croc" logo thing is. Now this is only after wearing them for a very long time or several short days in a row. Mine were at Disney, hers just from local wear. DS has had no problems.

DS really likes his Keens and I plan to get a pair for myself next summer. They're about twice the cost of crocs though.

Everyone's feet are different, so what's comfortable for some could be bad for you. Personally, I can't wear flip flops all day, even the supportive sport kind, but I can wear them several hours.

I just bought a pair after reading how so many on the disboards were raving about them. I've been trying to 'break them in' just wearing them around the house or to take the dog out and I'm already getting blisters on the very top-middle of my feet. I definitely having been wearing them the same amt of time I'd be wearing them at Disney! I was so excited when I heard everyone talk so highly of crocs, but now I think I'm going to be doomed to blisters covering all of both of my feet again on this trip... I hope if you try them they work better for you! :D

I think Crocs are great for AK day (especially if you plan to ride Kali River Rapids) but for all day/everyday...forget it. They just aren't THAT comfortable to me. I bring Crocs and sneakers and switch back and forth. However, DD refuses to take hers off her feet. She thinks they are super comfy (although, she does ride in a stroller a lot!)

I wear flip flops with cloth straps only and soft bottoms, no plastic bottom or plastic straps.

My Teva Mush did the BEST of the flip flop test. My Reef's were second .

I wore one pair of old navy one night and had a blister! UGH

My Teva's and Reef's were perfect and my feet never hurt. Also my Nike mushy flip flops with neoprene were awesome. The mush overall were the best though.

Take Care!

For all that are worried about blisters with the Crocs, try Body Glide, Bandaid Blister Stick or Monistat Anti-Chafing gel. I had a spot on my foot on our last trip that was about to turn into a blister, used the Anti-Chafing gel, and had no further issues with it. Since then, I've experimented with all three and found the Body Glide (sold in sporting goods shops) to work the best, and the other two run a close second. I just put it on the parts of my feet that have had problems rubbing in the past and voila - no blisters! :goodvibes
