As my wife likes to remind me, when I get too many options to choose from, I have a hard time making a decision. Well, I've run into another. I'm in need of new "daily" shoes (think tennis shoes or sneakers, not dress shoes). I'm not a runner or hiker, and I need to walk more. As I'm looking at the various options, "waterproof" has come up. Well, that would be nice. If I happen to be walking in the rain (or snow?), it would be nice if my feet don't get soaked (not talking immersion, but stepping into a puddle or something).

So, I've found Vessi (https://vessi.com/collections/men), Allbirds (https://www.allbirds.com/collections/mens-mizzles), and Duluth (https://www.allbirds.com/collections/mens-mizzles), to say nothing about the typical Nike, Addidas, Puma, Sketcher, etc.

Do you have a pair of shoes that you LOVE the comfort?

DH swears by his Rockports. Has numerous pairs, from dress shoes to casual, including several water-proof styles. He finds them very comfortable and durable. (Though for sneakers, which he doesn’t wear to work, he wears different brands.)

Docker's and Rockport both make comfortable walking shoes. I find that you have to actually try on any shoe you want to buy to see how well it fits and how comfortable it is. Every company seems to make shoes that fit differently so what might be the right size/width from one company isn't the same for another. I can't buy shoes on-line since they all seem to fit differently. Have to actually try them on in a store to get the best fit.

Dad shoes?

These look great. Passed the suggestion along to my husband. We had never heard of them before....thank you for making the suggestion!
DH wore his first pair on the flight to MCO last October. He also had a new pair of sneakers in his bag. Those Olukai were comfy with no breaking in and the *new* sneakers are back in the closet LOL! We were able to find another dark brown and then the lighter brown color at $99 locally so he has a few spares. He has back issues so whatever I can do to make him more comfortable is worth it! He wears a 9.5 typically but has wide feet and the 10 fits perfectly.

You might find a black friday sale with an online search. Good luck!

What stores did you find them at locally? I'd love to try some of these on, but don't know where to find them. :P

I just looked them up moosejaw.com has them for $130. Forbes.com has a 15% coupon if you sign up for email. Rakuten has a 4% cash back. IMO they are worth $130 as he doesn't complain about walking at WDW LOL!

He's still wearing the first pair and has even snuck out in the snow a few times when I wasn't looking so they hold up well. He wears the light tan color occasionally (no discoloring so far) and has a box of new brown ones in the closet.

Good luck!

Locally: Red's Shoe Barn in Plaistow NH (MA border) and Dover NH (ME border). $99. They are an old fashioned shoe store. They might ship.

zappos has them too (free ship both ways)

It also depends on the look you are going for and what you find comfortable. Many casual shoes are a step or two about tennis shoes and can be worn for a variety of casual occasions. Something like those Crocs or flip/flops that many seem to like are more suited for use at the beach and might be too casual for some.

Any specific look you are aiming for? My everyday tennis shoes are just retired running shoes and I do have some business casual shoes that are comfortable and go well with business casual but aren't something I'd pick if I didn't need to looks somewhat professional.

The Allbirds posted are nice and comfortable and I really like On shoes for comfort. They are a little more expensive and they have a lot of waterproof options. I have a pair of the Cloudflow I run in during snowy days when I need some grip and I've worn the Cloud X and they are super comfortable. If I didn't have so many retired running shoes that work perfectly fine I'd have a few of their shoes.

New Balance 928 walking shoes would be my preference. In reality I only buy them when on sale, they are too expensive for me to justify for walking around shoes. I usually end up in New Balance 608s.
