We are staying offsite for a 2 week vacation. However, due to some unforeseen circumstances we are now coming in at least one day early and MAYBE two days early. Since we cannot get into our condo that early we are going to stay on-site somewhere. Initially I was going to book Animal Kingdom Lodge but the price to stay there for ONE night is equal to the entire two weeks at the condo (timeshare). Also, my girls are 2 and 4 and while they woudl LOVE the animals at AKL I think they would also LOVE them themes at the Value resorts. Can someone tell me where they think we should book?
Money is not the decision maker here. But comfortable beds might be! Are value beds comfortable compared to the Deluxe? And if you think value - which value and why??

There's no comparison between deluxe beds and value beds. The deluxe will have queen size beds with comfortable mattresses and nice sheets.

The value will have cheap mattresses on full size beds with lower quality sheets...and pillows. I just remembered the pillows were horrible too.

If money isn't an issue stay at a deluxe.

That would definitely be a BIG problem for my husband! Thanks for the quick and honest advice!

Actually, we felt the sheets at AKL were the EXACT same ones as at ASMU, and we knew that b/c we stayed at both in the exact same trip.

As for beds...AKL has queens, with pillowtop mattresses. The brands I believe are the same, but the values do not have the pillowtop.

We were very underwhelmed with AKL. We thought we were going to get deluxe- deluxe sheets, bedding, towels, you name it. We didn't feel we got that. After reviewing loads of posts on this issue- we learned that deluxe means more restaurants, better transportation, and a nicer pool area basically, (which was packed last Oct, meanwhile the ASMU pools had nobody during the same week). The deluxe means nothing about the room really. The deluxe had 2 sinks, so did our suite at ASMU. We also had 2 bathrooms there. AKL we had 1. Plus the AKL tub was the exact same tub as the one at ASMU. We thought it would be bigger, like a soaker tub. The towels felt the same to us too- nothing special.

Needless to say, we won't be booking a deluxe again. Others love them but AKL didn't impress us.

Oh no! Now I'm confused again! I do think the double bed thing might be a bit tight for us. We aren't big people but my husband likes his space in bed!

This may have to do with the fact that all the CR rooms were refurbished in the last year or so, but I was blown away by the beds there. I have never slept on anything nearly as comfortable in my life. Each bed also has 5 or 6 super-comfortable pillows on it. I assumed any deluxe would offer the same level of comfort, but I've never been to AKL and asmit4 has me wondering.

We stayed at ASMusic in May and our beds were fine. We all sleep very well. The room had been refurbished and everything was great. We would stay there again!!

Just an FYI:
All Star Music was refurbished in 2006-2007.
The beds at All Star Music have very comfortable pillowtop mattress.
They are the same brand that that the refubished deluxe resort rooms have.

We have stayed at BCV, Poly, POR, and all stars, I cannot say that I ever felt that the beds at the deluxes were any more comfy than the beds at the values or mods. If you think that you need a queen size bed you could also check out the family suites at the ASMusic.

We've stayed at POP, AS Sports, AS Music, CBR, POFQ, CSR, AKL, WL, and Boardwalk. The only difference we noted was that the Deluxes had a queen size bed, whereas the values and mods had full size beds. The mods and deluxes also had ceiling fans, whereas the values did not. The sheets and pillows were the same. As Linda has already said, the refurbished values now have the same mattresses and toppers as the deluxes. The only uncomfortable bed I ever had at WDW was unfortunately at AKL a few years ago. It was hard as a rock.:confused3 That was also were we had the loudest neighbors. The deal breaker for us is the ceiling fans, I really miss that noise and slight breeze when we're at a value.:rotfl2:
