Wondered if anyone had feedback on staying at Comfort Suites Maingate at 7888 W Irlo Bronson Highway vs the Comfort Suites Maingate East at Old Town at 2775 Florida Plaza Blvd? The one at Maingate seems closer, but by how much I can't figure... We are planning a trip for Oct. 2010 and it will be our first time staying off-WDW property. I'm a little nervous! Reassurances, anyone?

We stayed one night at Comfort Suites East at Old Town before going on property. We found the hotel to be pretty nice, this was in 2008. We walked over to Old Town and had dinner and cruised the shops. The breakfast at the hotel was waffles, fruit, muffins, cereal, yogurt, juice, etc. The only complaint was parking, we stayed there on a Saturday night and Old Town was packed! People going to Old Town parked in the Comfort Suites lot leaving no spaces for hotel guests. They do have parking hang tags but no one was enforcing the rule. They had a pool area with a small childs pool, and a bar by the pool. Thats all I can remember at the moment, but overall we would stay there again.

We stayed at the CSM East a few times and loved it. Ive never stayed at the other one. Sorry! I know you are trying to weigh the differences. But I can definitely give you another thumbs up for the eastside one:thumbsup2

We have stayed at both CSMaingate and CSMaingate East, but it was six and four years ago, respectively, so remember that time may have taken its toll on both resorts. However... if you have a choice, stay at Maingate East. Maingate East seems newer, cleaner, nicer. Maingate had very noisy air conditioning (kept waking us up some nights), rooms open on exterior walkways instead of being indoor hallways like at Maingate East, and the breakfast room was small and had limited choices. Pool at Maingate East had more kid-exciting things, like mushroom waterfalls. Maingate is more motel-like, Maingate East more Hotel-like. Either was fine, time-wise, for driving to the parks. Didn't use their transportation. Before taking my opinions as final, however, I'd find out when the most recent renovations had taken place at Maingate. If it hasn't been renovated in the last 4 or 5 years, book Maingate East.

Thanks guys - sounds like CSME is a better choice - Tripadvisor reviews point that way, too. :-)

We stayed at the Old Town CS in December 2008 (it was our first off-site stay as well)...like I have said in other posts about the hotel, the only complaint was slow elevators. The breakfast is really nice...there are countless dining opportunities within blocks....good luck and have a great time!!!
