Comfort Suites Maingate East. Is Old Town Area safe?

I booked one night in September - a Saturday night - at Comfort Suites Maingate East. We are checking into WBC the next day. I have read reviews on here about the Comfort Suites and it seems like a decent choice, includes hot breakfast, all are good reviews. There are 6 of us and it is difficult to find hotel rooms for 6 people, without having to book 2 separate rooms. Plus, a free hot breakfast the next day for 6 people saves $$. And no extra resort or parking fees. However, I have also read not-so-good things about the Old Town area which is across the street from the hotel. We are staying there on a Saturday night and I don't know how the area is. Is it a safe area for my family?
