Hi Folks,
we're considering to stay at the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista. We would appreciate to hear about your experiences.
How far is to Downtown Disney? Is it within walking distance?

Any input is welcome :)

Technically it is within walking distance, but it would be a LONG walk!

This is very basic hoteling. Be sure to ask for a room on the front so you are not right by the interstate.

I have stayed there, but probably would not again unless the room was REALLY cheap. The front desk staff seemed a little rude and at the time they had no express checkout so you had to deal with them twice.

They did have scheduled transport to Disney but I don't know much about it, we had a rental car.

I've stayed there a couple of times and will be staying there again in May. Me and my wife like it. We've gotten rooms as cheap as $40 a night. It has security on property, the grounds are kept up nicely and best of all it is close to downtown disney. I agree with the earlier post regarding walking distance. It would be a walk, especially with all the packages you no doubt will end up with. As for the front desk help, I've encountered both ends of the spectrum on that topic, but that's pretty much what I've seen around the whole area no matter where you visit.

Thanks PTH,
that's about the price we found in a German travel catalogue.
The walking shouldn't be a problem then, as Europeans we're perhaps a bit more used to it ;) When we're shopping we'll use the car, I was asking mainly, because we intend to have a cocktail -or two :p - when we're at Pleasure Island and then we would definitely leave the wheels in the hotel.

Well, I'm a European too but wouldn't want to walk from DTD to the Comfort Inn - it really is a trek IMHO!!

I reckon it's about 6/7 minutes by car from the hotel to Pleasure Island.

I'd get a cab if I were you!!

...and it was so-so. Our main concern was cleanliness, which it was. The benefits is that it is so close to DD, (not that IIIII would walk... ;) ), and newer surroundings, than in "old" Kissimmee. We were pretty pleased with it.

I have checked their rates for this Dec. though, and it is $10 more than we paid last year, same time of year! Sorry, but I don't think it is worth $50/night, in the VALUE season!

Thanks Astrid and Disneyfan,

6-7 minutes by car sounds like a lot of walking ;) And although I usually run about 40 miles per week, I'd prefer a cab then too :p
I think we will mainly use the car, but perhaps we're gonna have a cocktail (or two ;) ) and then I prefer to leave the car at the hotel.
We'll get it a a price of €48 per room/night - including all taxes and charges.

BTW,
whom do you support in soccer then, Astrid? England or the Netherlands?

I stayed there in April 2001. It was a last minute trip and all the WDW moderates were booked so we tried it. We paid $35 per night. The room was large, clean and had a refrigerator. We stayed on the I-4 side but did not hear any traffic. The pool area was basic but well kept. They had good security, the guard actually called up to my room each time my friend from Orlando came to visit! We didn't eat there or use the transpotation. I would stay there again.

Viking - Glad the info was of help. Has to be England I'm afraid, though the way they're playing at the moment think I should change my allegiance!! :)

Astrid

We stayed there many years ago (like 8 years I think) so I cannot comment on the upkeep of the hotel now and the like but I will say that I really liked the location. I remember many restaurants and a big grocery within a short drive. I don't remember anything in walking distance however! It was also a (relatively) short drive to the parks. I'd say it is a decent place to stay for the location and if you aren't planning to spend much time in the room.

Enjoy!

Carol

Astrid,
our team is also in bad shape for the time being, they're only good when playing championship

Selket and Mickey7861,
thanks a lot, then it should be a great choice for us.
We usually only use our room for sleeping, changing and showering.
We will have a 30-day-ticket for all WDW-attractions, KSC and some other attractions, so we will spend every free minute in the parks, waterparks or Downtown Disney - Especially Disney Quest.
