I can't decide!! Is the price difference worth the location difference???

We travel with our two boys, who will be 9 and 12 and our nephew, who will be 13, so we can't get a standard room. We looked at the family suites at the Palms Suites Lakeside and the family fun suites at Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista. The price difference for the 9 nights that we are planning on staying is about $300. We are driving, so there isn't a problem with transportation, just traffic and convenience.

We will be visiting Disney and Universal and the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista is in a lot better location, but the price is a lot better for Palm Suites Lakeside....

I'm getting the best rate for Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista on the actual property website, and the best rate for Palm Suites Lakeside on hotelplusportal. I've never booked through hotelplusportal, so I really don't know how that works either.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Just my opinion, and I've never stayed at the Palm Suites, but I have stayed at the Comfort Inn @ Lake Buena Vista and I wouldn't recommend it. The room was kind of old and the highway noise was terrible. The breakfast was ok, but the hostess kept walking people through the area where you are trying to serve yourself off the free bar so it was even more crowded. The hostess also would go look for a table and then instead of returning to get the patrons, she would yell across the restaurant. Like I said, this is my opinion from my experience.
Hope this helps and I hope you have a wonderful trip.

I booked through hotelplusportal for the Palms Suites couple of months ago. I had no problems with the reservation. You give them your cc to hold the room, but they don't charge it. You pay when you arrive at the hotel. Hotelplusportal is a free service. They will give you a reservation number and they send you an email. Then they fax everything to Palms Suites. Palms Suites sends them a confirmation. Your reservation number for Palms Suites is going to be different than the one that hotelplus gives you. You will probably need to call hotelplus to get that number (I did). I was a little leary about booking with hotelplusportal, but I haven't had any problems. No funny charges on my cc or anything of that nature. HTH

Have you stayed yet? I was also wondering if there are any extra charges (other than the normal room tax of 13%), like housekeeping or a resort fee.
Thanks for your response!

We won't be staying there until June. I called Palms Suites to speak to them about the rate that I was quoted from hotelplusportal. They informed me that there is a $5 per day resort fee. They didn't mention any other fees. They did tell me that the rate that I was quoted from hotelplusportal is the rate that I would receive. :woohoo:

Hi I had friends stay there in Oct 2005 .. they said for the price - which i think they paid like $50 per night for the family suite - it was great. Not to far from the WDW entrance - 10-15 mins depending on traffic and lights. the staff was nice (they had a water main break and offered to switch them to a different room for free but my friend just used the other room to shower by the eve it was fixed in their room) The free breakfast is your basic continental - muffins, bagels, danish, donuts, juice, cereal & milk and make your own waffles. I am staying there April 17-23 and will post a review when i get back -- April Vacation for $39 a night WHOO HOO.. Michelle

Thank you for your responses! I'm still trying to decide between the two locations. The Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista is so much closer, but I can get the family suite for $39 or the bi-level family suite, which has 2 bathrooms for $59 at Palm Suites. I had only been considering the regular family suite, but now I'm seriously considering the convenience of 2 bathrooms. They don't have the bi-level avaialble for our first 3 nights, so I may reserve the regular family suite the first 3 and the bi-level for the last 6 nights.

We will be staying at the Comfort Inn LBV next month- have stayed there before also. The price is very good, if you request a room on the Palm Parkway side, it is quieter. If you are looking for a comfortable room, close to DD and the parks, this will be a good choice. If you're looking for a place that is more extravagant, or offers more amenities, you may want to choose another location. Have a great time, because that is what counts most!!! :thumbsup2
