have read about a couple of people being able to experience this already? Are there soft openings? any thoughts about next week?

Just got back yesterday, and there was a "Coming Soon" sign on the attraction. I had hoped for a soft opening when we were there, but no dice.

There have been several openings recently to test audience reaction to the show, most recently this past Tuesday. There is another day of them scheduled for tomorrow and there will probably be more in the future until they gather a large enough statistical base to make further decisions. The openings are not announced in advance. You will just be walking by the attraction and they will ask you to come in and give your opinion. They also reward you with a fast pass good for any MK ride.
