It's right around the corner...I'll be riding my 200th coaster, Storm Runner, at Hersheypark on Sunday, August 8, 2004. Meeting times and places TBA. I've heard reports that the ride may or may not be up. I hope that it is, even if I have to sit around all day to ride it! :)

Read about a review of the coaster Storm Runner HERE.

Sign up if you can make it!

See you then! :)

I've never been to HP and we're only about 2 hrs away, lol.

I gotta ask - is this your 200th DIFFERENT roller coaster or 200th ride? Either is amazing that you kept count.

I was just there last weekend & Storm Runner was GREAT!!!!

Wish I could join you. I'd love to try that ride. Have fun. I hope its running and that you don't have to wait in much of a line.

It sounds like fun! I hope you all have a great time!!

have a great time
we are just going to miss you
we are goind to Hershey Park this Sat 7/24

The only roller coater I have ever riddn was a big old wooden coaster in Muskego, WI.

Have a great time!!!

I can answer one question for Barry (since he hasn't yet done so). This will be his 200th different coaster. I'm sure that he could provide you a list if you are interested. ::yes::

Webmaster Barry. What's your favorite coaster after riding 195 of them? and why?

Went to Kings Island yesterday and rode the Beast. Still my favorite (I still think it's the longest wooden coaster and at one time it was the tallest). I just like the speed rush, the second tunnel, clickety clack etc... Not a big fan of the looping ones.

Haven't riden it in 15 years. I don't know if it is my age or what, but the Beast seemed to be getting faster.

Barry,
If you get a chance "magic springs" in hot springs ark has several coasters. DD says they are better than disneys, lol, It s a medium to small amusement park but was not bad, the new gauntlet coaster was ok according to the kids,, they liked the old wooden arkansas twister the best, Would love to have you come visit those dis'res we have in arkansas and try out our coasters too:) next time you ar e out texas way, the park is about 15 min off of I-30 outside of malvern arkansas

We're just going to miss you--I think we're going to Hershey Park on 8/6 for my DHs birthday. We were planning on driving to the beach for the day, but the weather is supposed to cool down and I like hot weather at the beach.

We can't wait to ride Storm Runner and I suppose we will head there first thing in the morning. Any touring hints for HP? We haven't been in years and I like to know what rides to hit first to avoid long waits.

When I told my 4 (4-16yo) kids tonight that we might be going to HP they all screamed (as in excitement, not in horror lol). I hope my husband was serious when he said that would be good for his birthday. He's not a theme park junkie like me and he'd probably just as soon do a day hike for his birthday.

Have fun!

Barry, I thought of a couple questions. In looking at your favorite coasters there are two Hershey Park ones on there. Is Lightning Racer a smooth caoster? I know it's a wooden coaster, but some of them jerk around a lot, which I don't like (and it gives me a migraine :( ). Also, Top Thrill Dragster is on your list, but I don't see it listed in the HP rides. Is it still around?

Thanks, T&B

As for HP, I would hit Storm Runner 1st and see if it is open. It may not be during the first half hour or so. If not, try to do the coasters in that area -- the Great Bear and the Comet. Also, try to do Roller Soaker early since that loads slowly and has a long wait.

Lightning Racer is pretty smooth, as are all recent GCI coasters (Ozark Wildcat, Thunderhead). Top Thill Dragster is on my list, but it's under Cedar Point.

Would love to have joined you Barry. HP is one of my favorite parks, & one of the only parks where I go on the Coasters. Unfortunately, DH & I have a wedding the day before & won't be able to make it. Good Luck on your quest! Kathy :wave2:

Top Thrill Dragster was listed on your Top 5 steel coasters for Hershey Park. Yes, I now see if under Ceder Point--just a typo I guess. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something good at Hershey Park.

We'll make sure we hit Roller Soakers early on. Don't know that I will want to get drenched, but I'll sure send my kids on that. My 4yo is SO excited--he has been wanting to do SuperDooperLooper, the little daredevel.

We'll give Lightening Racer a try and I'll have my migraine meds close by just in case.

Thanks for the tips and have fun on Sunday!
