ComCast Triple Play, Reached my first year

My Comcast bill jumped up from $135 to $225 last month :scared1:. I've seen increases when a promotional period is over, but NEVER one that high. It was our 3rd yr after getting the three for $90 deal that made us jump from WOWWAY last time. So I call and say no way, not paying that much. Get someone who tells me that she cannot help me, to call back. I called a second time and asked for someone in the retention dept. This person takes away my HBO and I am down to $185. Not cool. So I tell them no thanks, I will be changing to a different service. A couple days later WOW shows up at my house, I guess they got our address when I plugged in our info on their website to see their rates. He basically knew he had us, because we were so unhappy with our rate increase. We agreed to their deal ($135+ tax) which included two DVRS and two converters (I think, I don't speak cable-eese). So I still lost my HBO but the cost will be at least $40 cheaper a month. I had them come out Tuesday for install, I called yesterday to cancel Comcast and suddenly they want to deal with me :worried: :furious:. Which was totally annoying because of course the last thing I wanted to do was have someone at my house messing with all my tvs and cable lines, etc if it wasn't necessary. Wish he had been the one I talked to before I decided to bail on Comcast. So in a year and a half we do this stupid dance again .

My advice is a combination of a few things here. In particulary, say that you want to downgrade or outright cancel your service.

And, no, I don't mean this to be making a childish threat, either, you should be serious.

If you aren't happy about the price they are currently charging, don't keep the service.

Who is WOW??

Seems liek COmCast is getting harder and harder to get rates down. I tried teh retention line and got nowhere. Looking into directtv. I think I will try COmcast again and tell them a specific date I need cut off to switch to Direct TV. Seems like once you get that serious they are more likely to work with you.

WOW is Wideopenwest. In our area (SE MI) our choices are DirecTV, AT&T, WOW, or Comcast.

Never heard of WOW. Here it is Comcast or Direct TV/Dish only. Consider yourself lucky to have choices to play against. I think I am having a tougher battle as there is no other option other than a dish.

So disappointed in Comcast! :sad2: I have been a loyal customer of both the internet and cable service for 6 years. My current promotion ran out this month. I called to ask for another promotion today and not only was I denied other than a paltry $15 discount, I was given the run around. The phone rep told me to go online and chat that the online reps had better deals. I tried that and was told that online was only for new customers, I had to call to get a promo *if* one was available. I was told the double play I had been rolling for years could only be used for new customers (so was I new every 6 months for 6 years?).
Eventually I cancelled cable. I just do not see where it is worth it to pay approx $120 for internet and Digital Starter - no movie or premium channels, no DVR either. I have no other choice for internet

I wish we could cancel our Comcast cable. Unfortunately, DH loves his football.

Right now I pay $220/month for phone, cable, internet. For cable we have expanded basic for DS, and a cable box for DH and I in our room, and HD/DVR in the front room.

If I knew DH wouldn't freak out, I would cancel tv in our room and DS's room.

Where they really get you is for HD service. And with the newer HD tv's being less expensive now, they are getting a lot of extra $$ for the people needing the service.
