Comcast/AT&T/WellsFargo/etc. bonuses. Will they be issued this year?

Just curious. I’m in the dark regarding these bonuses. Are companies really issuing these before the end of the year?

Will they issue them at all or is this just a big PR stunt?

I’m more curious than anything else.

Highly doubt they won’t issue them. That would cause MAJOR morale problems.

Would assume they will be paid in 2017 to reduce 2017 income which is taxed at a much higher rate.

DH will receive his bonus on 1/11. I thought for sure they would pay it out in 2017. Not complaining, though.

Sinclair Broadcasting folks already have their money. I am not aware of any of them promising bonuses before the tax bill passed, only announcing them after it had passed. That would be a PR disaster if they weren't paid.

AT&T announced before the tax bill passed (on Dec 20th) if it passed before Christmas they'd pay before year end.

Of course, AT&T also announced layoffs just after they announced those bonuses.

AT&T is paying them out on Dec 29 on a special check.

What bonuses?

Due to the corporate taxes being cut, some of the larger companies announced they would give back to their employees. I am only familiar with what AT&T is doing but they were giving $1,000 bonus to all union and first level managers. They also pledged they would invest $1B into new technology in 2018.
