Combo WDW/cruise-booking & insurance?

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. We are planning on a trip in June (not booked yet). We want to do 4-5 days in WDW staying at the Caribbean Beach in a pirate room then a 3 day cruise. It has to be after June 20, but we're flexible from there.

From what I've read so far, it may be cheaper to do a room only reservation with AAA discount and get park tickets from UT. If we have all these separate bookings (room, tickets, flights, cruise), how does trip insurance work?

Southwest doesn't have their June schedule out yet. Do I need to wait and book everything at the same time so I can get the insurance within 14 days?

I'm just totally confused and am not sure of the best way to book this vacation. Will it really save a lot to do it separate vs a package through Disney?

Any advice is appreciated.

First of all, don't buy any insurance until you check out insuremytrip.com
They have many plans from which to choose, that offer better coverage at lower rates than Disney.

I put together my own vacation package to Europe last year, and it IS possible to add different components at different times- as long as you add EACH one within 14 days of purchasing it. In fact, most companies require you to insure all parts of the package- you can't pick and choose what things you want to insure. I took out the initial policy, then added things twice (even nonrefundable show and museum tickets). But whatever product you buy, read the fine print and call them if you have any questions at all.

I used TravelGuard.

I also put together a package for Disney exactly as you are now- UT, AAA discount (which I later changed to a 30% off Disney promo) and airfare (no cruise, though). We are going in December. For various reasons, I'm not buying any insurance this time, but if I did, it would be with TravelGuard.
