Combining Use Years to Book One Vacation

Hi,

I am looking to make a reservation that will require the use of points from two different use years (June and August). I will be booking a night-by-night reservation, so the first few days I will use all the points from our June use year contract, however when those June use year points are depleted I would want to finish the reservation with our August use year contract points. Is there anything in particular I need to do to make this work? Will I have two separate reservations that will then be linked together because the points to complete the vacation are coming out of two different use years? Any insight would be most appreciated.

Thanks!
Amy

Assuming your home resort is the same for both use years, you can request that they "link" the reservations together so you will not have to change rooms.

Are they the same home resort? Are you already borrowing all the points from the next year in your June UY contract? If not, I'd do it that way first.

Sorry, yes, each contract is from the same home resort. Basically we are booking (2) 2 bedroom standard views at the Boardwalk Villas and each contract is 150 points. We will have used all of our June 2008 UY points and borrowed all but 28 points of our June 2009 UY points before needing to then use points from our August UY contract. To complete the vacation we will need to use all of our August 2008 UY points and will need to borrow a portion of the August 2009 UY points.

What I planned to do was use up almost all the points from our June contract to book our Sun-Thurs nights exclusively on the June UY contract (this would leave the 28 points in our June 2009 UY). Then for the Friday and Saturday nights I would use our August UY points, which then I would assume they would be able to link those two reservations together. What I'm not so sure about is then for our last night, on the second Sunday, I would want to book one of the 2 bedrooms with our June 2009 UY points (using 24 points of the 28 points remaining in the June 2009 UY contract) and then I would book the second 2 bedroom with some of the remaining August 2009 UY points. I would then think they would be able to link those reservations all together with our previous two reservations. So essentially, I think, we would have four separate reservations linked together. Have I thought this out right?? And with linking the reservations we will NOT have to switch rooms right?

We're planning this trip with my sisters two families, so with 15 of us and the number of points we have for the length of stay we want, doing the (2) 2 bedrooms was the only way to go.

Okay, after writing my own reply and then talking it through with my husband, I think what we'll do is still utilize all but 28 points from our June contract (those 28 points would be in our June 2009 UY) to book the Sun-Thurs nights, then we'll use all but 39 points in our August contract (those 39 points would be in our August 2009 UY) to book the Fri-Sun nights. I think this might be a "cleaner" reservation since we would just have two reservations that would need to be linked (Sun-Thurs using June points and Fri-Sun using August points). When the time comes to use the remaining 2009 UY points, we could then transfer all the points left over from one contract to the other. I hope that makes sense!

Thanks to those who read and responded to my questions. I sincerely appreciate it!

Take care,
Amy

If you need points from both contracts for a single night, you'll have to use your once a year transfer for both to transfer from one to the other. If you can get a full night without combining the two contracts, you won't need to use the transfer.

Oooh, that brings up another question regarding the once per year transfer. Is it once per "use year" or once per "calendar year"? I don't think it will matter in this situation, but my husband and I were discussing this just last night and we weren't sure what the policy was.

It's per use year.

We've taken my 2 sisters and their families as well for a total of 9. We had a 2 bedroom and a studio boardwalk view.

I was so excited to be able to take family with us to Disney. Planning the trip was both the most exciting and most frantic thing I've ever done. Congrats! We'd love to see a trippie when it is all finished.
