Combining two parties?

We are traveling with another family, and arrive on 10/1. Both families have reservations separately but at the same time for H&V character breakfast at 8:10am. We called DisneyDining and they said that in order to combine the reservation, we'd have to cancel one of them, and increase the party size of the other. We didn't want to chance losing our spot, because we just barely snagged the second one.

Is there a way to call the restaurant directly and ask to be seated together? I would think this should be easy since it's just after the restaurant opens?

I don't think there is anyway to call the restaurant directly. I would keep searching for a reservation with the correct party size (I've used the modify option on the app to search for new times, party sizes, etc.). After you've gotten the new reservation, then I would cancel the second reservation. Otherwise, you can request at the check-in podium to have the parties combined or seated near each other. The CMs will do their best to accommodate the request, but there is no guarantees that they'll be able to do so.

1) You can't combine the reservations.
2) Calling the restaurant directly will not assist.
3) You have two choices: make a new reservation for the correct party size, or check in at the same time and ask to be seated at the same table or nearby. You won't be able to do this until you have arrived at the podium - it can't be done ahead of time. You might have to wait, but they will do it if they can.
4) Do not cancel either of the reservations you have until you have made another one for the correct party size. If you cannot make one for the correct party size, just keep the two you have.

Your most likely outcome is to be seated near one another, rather than at the same table. Combining parties equals needing a much bigger table, and the tables that accommodate that size group are likely booked.

Since your ADR is shortly after the restaurant opens, you shouldn't have a problem sitting at least close to each other in the case that you can't get the reservation size that you need. You could even try to arrive early (right at restaurant opening) just to increase your chances.

Just ask if you can be seated together when you check-in and they will do their best to accomodate you. I wouldn't mess around with the ADR's

Stay on the lookout for a reservation large enough to accommodate all of you. You do not have to cancel one reservation before increasing the size of another.

Other than that, just ask when you arrive for your reservation. The worst they can do is say no.

You can try to combine your ADR's and that helps to be seated together, but it is not a guarantee. Large parties can be separated. It has happened to us. We were at adjoining tables.

As someone else posted, why don't you just try to increase the party size in your reservation BEFORE you cancel the other? Don't cancel the other until youre able to increase the party size.
