Combining Reservations

How successful would I be in trying to combine reservations? I have a large group, and have several instances where I have two sets of reservations within 5 to 10 minutes of each other. If I were to call would they be likely to combine them into one large group, or do I run into the chance of the rep on the phone dropping them and someone else lucking into picking them up? It isn't crucial that we're together though it would be nice, and the reservations are per family (say, I have two for my husband and I, my SIL has 6 booked for her family, etc), so it isn't like I'm stacking in my own account and causing concern from that respect.

I am sure it would depend on the restaurant. If it's a hard to get ADR, you might have more problems. You could always all show up at the same time and see if they could seat you together or close to each other.

If there is availability for the larger group under one reservation, the CM will be able to make one ADR for that party size; however, there's no way to combine reservations if there isn't a table available to accommodate the larger group. With that said, Disney is usually very accommodating when they can be, so when you check in for the ADRs, you can ask if it's possible to sit together or close by each other.

I find calling better than attempting to make these types of changes/requests online.

But as others have said, Disney will accommodate from the check-in Podium if they can.

As Mickeynut1 said, you can call and see if there is a single reservation for your entire group which you can then book. However, there is no way the phone reservation castmember can combine the 2 separate reservations you already have. You can also keep checking online to see if a reservation for your whole group shows up and book it. If you cannot get a reservation, when you check in at the podium you can request to be seated together. It is not guaranteed, but castmembers will do their best to seat you together or near one another.

You can also subscribe to the cancellation thread for your month, but be sure to read the rules in the first post:

There have also been threads on the Dining Reservations board that discuss paid sites that will search for you.

Ah, but if adding one or two people to a larger group, Cast Members over the phone may have better luck than attempting online.

If these are 2 parties of 2, or something similar, I'm still of the mind that a phone call is worth the $dime.

We are recommending that the OP call the dining reservation line first to see if the castmember can find a table large enough for both groups. However, the castmember can only do that if there is an available table large enough for the entire group. If there is no available table the OP can then either start checking online herself and/or continue calling.
