Combining FP+ with Rider Switch

On our last trip a few years back which was shortly after the FP+ rollout, we did once use the strategy where I book a FP for myself and one of our older boys at BTMR...then used the Rider Switch so my wife could also ride while saving her FP to use with our youngest on Dumbo.

Obviously others discovered this strategy/loophole as well...but there seems to be conflicting information. What's the general view on this? Is this frowned upon? Are CM's supposed to make all riders use their FP when trying to use FP+ and Rider Switch in the same instance?

Our youngest will be 5 on this next rip, so still too young to ride some rides...but still likely interested in a few rides/shows that our older boys won't be. Just wanting to know if this is a valid option or if I should not plan around it.

You can absolutely do this.

We typically do a FP for mine train for my 4 year old and hubby and I have one for Small World (or something similar) for my 2 year old. We will then use rider switch so I can ride with our 4 year old and hubby takes the 2 year old to get a snack or something.

If your 5 year old doesn't meet the height restrictions, then you are eligible to request a Rider Switch/Swap pass. It doesn't matter how many FP guests ride 1st, 3 riders ride on the Swap without needing FPs.

If your child is tall enough for a ride, you may not be given a Swap pass.

I thought that the swap passes were also available if the child chooses not to ride. For example, if the child is tall enough, but is too scared for the ride and is young enough to require a parent stay behind while others in the party ride the ride, then a swap pass should be given no questions asked.

It will just depend on the CM at the ride. That's why I stated "may not." When it comes to FP booking, you don't want to totally miss out on FPs when you have a child of the correct height.

OK, got it. Thank You!

Thanks for the feedback guys...I suspect we'll only use the option once or twice on our trip, but good to know its there.
