Is this something that I can do online or is this something that I have to call MS to do? I usually have specific uses for each of my contracts and really have never had a need to combine them so I was unsure if this was even a possibility. Also, if I have 5 points on one contract and 20 points on another contract, can they be combined for one night if the total needed was 25 points for that night? Thank you in advance!

If they are the same UY, then you can combine the points online. If they are for different resorts, then you have to wait for the 7-month booking window to open in order to combine them.

If they are the same resort but different UYs, you have to call MS to transfer the points from one membership to the other in order to combine them. The points will retain their separate UY, but MS should be able to book the reservation for you once the points have transferred. You will not be able to book online using the transferred points but since they would be the same resort, you would retain the 11-month booking advantage for your home resort.

If they are different resorts AND different UYs, then you can still transfer the points from one membership to the other BUT you will have to wait for the 7-month booking window to open and you will need to go thru MS to make that reservation.

I believe you can only transfer current year points (not banked or borrowed). We have two memberships (different resorts and use years) and just end up using one contract per trip (borrowing and banking points if needed). If I have banked points I need to use up, I will book a night or two with that contract, and then call MS to link the two bookings.

Yes, they are all different resorts and uy. I was waiting until the seven month window since we are trying to book Aulani. My next question is may I book what I can with one account and then call to add the additional nights with a different contract through member services once it opens? Will they consider it one reservation even if I am using two different contracts for points? Can member services combine points from two contracts for a single night reservation so I don't have any straggler points?

You can do that, but they will be two separate reservations. You can ask MS to "link" them, but they cannot "combine" them under the same reservation number because they are two different memberships. If this is the route you decide to take, you have to understand that while they will try to not move you from one villa to another, the possibility of it happening does exist. If Aulani works like Disney World, you will have to check out at the end of the first reservation and check back in for the second even if you are not changing rooms. Personally, I would much rather deal with the hassle of transferring points from the comfort of my home, so that I have one reservation #, rather than deal with the complication of 2 reservation numbers while on vacation.

They will not "combine" points from two different contracts in order to avoid the "straggler points" that you are referring to. If you want to avoid orphaned points, the best way to do it would be to do a points transfer and then make the reservation in a single phone call.

Thank you so much!!! I have one last question and then hopefully, I am done. If I transfer points, may I book online with the non transferred points at 8 and then at 9 call and have MS add the nights to the end of the reservation added with the transferred points? Also, can I accept transfers into my account from more than one other contract? I have two accounts and my parents have two also. If I was to be them main reservation maker, could I transfer into my account from my other contract AND from one of theirs? Thank you so much!

Yes, you can book what you can online at 8 AM and then call MS to modify the reservation using the transferred points to complete the nights you need.

You are only permitted one points transfer (either in or out) per membership per year. So, if you have one membership with 4 contracts under it, you would only be permitted to either transfer points in or out of that membership once during its UY. Sometimes MS will permit a one-time courtesy transfer of points from one membership account to another if they are for the same owner(s). But that is not a given and should be considered to be pixie dust instead of being expected. So, given that, you would not be able to transfer points into one of your accounts from another one of your accounts AND the two of your parents' accounts.

Thank you! So book what I can with one of my contracts and pick one other account to transfer points into same account. Then call and add the rest of the days with transferred points. Thank you so much for all of your help. It will make my points planning much easier for these next few vacations!

You cannot use transferred points online (with one exception that doesn’t apply to you).
