Combine Pins?

What is this? Can you make new pins? The online help inside VMK is no help. Compared to other games (console and PC) this is how new magic is made and is usually not able to be undone.
 
You can combine magic pins that you have two of. If you have two fireworks magic you can combine them for longer-lasting magic.
 
You don't make "new" magic by combining pins, you only make that particular magic have a longer effect, or shorter recharge depending on the type of pin.
You can only combine like-magic.

Fireworks, Invisible, Bat, and Inferno will last longer with each "Star" you add by combining a like magic pin.

Teleportation and Snowman have a shorter recharge time.

Am I leaving any out? :confused3 :teeth:
 
... and they can NOT be undo once combined. Also, in trade window, it is impossible to tell whether you are receiving a one star or five star pin.
 

I had been meaning to ask this question but just haven't gotten around to it.

Do you think it is better to have longer lasting magic or an extra magic pin to trade for something in the future?

I have 1 star, 2 star and 3 star magic pins. I can't really say the 3 stars makes me any happier. Half the time I'm wish the magic would stop so I can more onto the next one.

Does a 2 or 3 star pin trade for more stuff?
 
I've never combined any of my pins, even my fireworks magic, because I figure that in a trade window people would trust seeing five firework pins more than my saying it's five star fireworks. So until they make it so you can see how many stars it is in a trade window, I don't want to combine any of my magics that I might potentially trade.

It might depend on the type of magic. You would not get much for 5 single star invisible, but could possibly get more for a 5 star one. On the other hand you might get more for 5 Teleport pins than for a 5 star Teleport.

You do know that you can now stop the magic short? Just single click on the magic in use and then click on Stop Magic (or something like that).

The only problem is that most knowledgable players will only trade with players they know for multi-star pins, since there is no way to tell during the trade how many stars a magic pin has.
 
Pirate Magic - recharge time is decreased to about 1:00 and it lasts about 2:30

Cursed Storm - there is at least one player out there with a 5* but I have not come across them

Buried in Treasure - there's a few out there with 5* but have not seen them yet either

(The above three were tradeable early on but no longer are. Those with more than 1* were around during beta and that's how they got them.)

Fireworks - recharge time is decreased to 1:00 and it lasts about 2:00

Teleport - recharge time is decreased to 0:10

Invisibility - recharge time is decreased to 1:00 and it lasts about 2:30

Inferno - recharge time is decreased to 1:00 and it lasts about 2:45

Bat Magic - recharge time is decreased to 1:00 and it lasts about 2:45

Snowman - recharge time is decreased to 0:10

Blue Car (2*) - lasts about 5-10 seconds longer
Only able to get more than one blue car due to quest bug for a few people and then only 2 of them at most

The rest of the magic isn't tradeable, or combineable.

There also are 2* Pink Cars. Some of us that did the auto quests the first day were given a Pink Car magic pin by VMK.

It seems that at times the Pink Car quest was giving out Blue Cars, which is how the 2* Blue Cars came into being. Since you could not do the quest twice VMK decided to give those with problems a Pink Car pin. However they gave some of us the Pink Car, even though the Blue and Pink Car quests worked as they should for us.

or just trade them single?
or combine a few and leave a few singles?

I'd say no. Unless you need a super long effect on a pin making it a multi star put it out of reach for trade or purchase for the average joe like myself. Only the Super Elite can trade for such an item and that alienates you from the rest of VMK. Also it means less of the magic overall in the game. I would like one of each of the magic but know that because many cannot be won anymore I never will.

I can't see combing things like dive as you hardly get any points for the shells, if you get any at all (I hit 15 and got credit for 3). :( I'm not combining any of mine I'd rather share/trade so others can enjoy them as well.

I have Auto 1 & 2; Dive; Bling; Storm; Pirate; Space.

I may never be able to win a fireworks pin as the only computer that doesn't lag why playing is the one at work and I would need to play early in the morning (work wouldn't like that).

Teleportation and Bat are the ones I would really like but it seems like they are going to be very difficult to get as ppl are only trading rare. Fireworks and the others like snowman are fun but I guess not necessary.

Combining snowman doesn't do much for you, unless you really want it recharged faster. So I say no, unless you don't intent to trade them.

My feeling is to keep them separate if you plan to trade them later on. Trading multi-star magic is really risky for the recipient so I would not combine any pins I planned on trading. I would rather receive five single star magic pins in a trade than take a chance on a five star magic pin trade. The negative side of that is it means those five single star magic pins would be using up five of the fifteen trade slots.

LOL, I wasn't really planning to trade any of them at this time, I was kind of waiting until closer to Christmas time.
