Can you use the coluzzle template & cutter without the mat? Or does the mat help? :confused3

Cherie, Love the picture!
In answer to your question, no. If you try to use it without the mat or on a selfhealing mat, it will tear your paper!

I have the 8x11 mat and a bigger one I think 11x14. (I ordered them from crazy scraps) They are so inexpensive, you may as well do it right! I bought a couple of coluzzle on a whim (50% off) and have enjoyed using them for something "different".
Have fun! Kathy

Thanks for the compliment. :goodvibes

Okay, so that makes sense. I wondered why I wasn't getting my coluzzle to work correctly...I'll get the mat. Thanks!!! :)

i wish you had posted this question last week - i learned the hard way!! you definately need the mat!!

It also makes it very easy to cut your templates if you don't use the mat. I couldn't find my mat the other day and tried using my templates on top of scrap catalogs - I usually have a pile of old catalogs to use when I am stamping or scrapping to catch overstamps (like when making backgrounds for cards that are covered with stamped patterns).
I tried usinging the templates on top of one of these old catalogs and I kept slipping and cutting into the plastic of the template. I am hoping that I haven't ruined the template but I don't want to try again until I find my mat or get a new one.

I love my Coluzzle! I usually use a 40% off from the local craft store to purchase additional pieces. The letters are great and I use the squares, ovals and circles all the time.

Cherie - that is a great picture!

Like everyone else has said, you really need to used the mat. But you can use the cutter without the templates. I use it with a ruler to make straight line cuts.

That was the problem I was having. Then I thought...(big lightbulb moment), hmm...maybe you NEED the mat? :confused3 Glad I found out...I may need a new template now too..... :sad2:
