I'm back! I've got pics! If you can follow this link it will take you to all the pics I took while on the event.

The Penguin event Columbus Distance Classic with John Bingham and Coach Jenny and WISH Team members

We got to meet both THE Penguin (John Bingam) and Coach Jenny authors of Marathoning for Mortals at the event. It was a great time and I enjoyed sharing it with everyone. I don't have all the picutres. I hope to get more from my WISH Team partners.

I am hoping that the others will add their pictures and/or links.

How cool!!! Thank you for sharing!!

Awesome pictures, Lily! I just got home, my flight was delayed by the weather in Chicago, so I am pretty tired. I will post more tomorrow!

Very kewl pics! Great job everyone :)

Congrats WISH Team Columbus!!!

:woohoo: :woohoo: we did it and we ROCK!

pat - i'm sorry to hear your flight was delayed!

all -- it was such a joy to meet you all and chat :wave2:

i was just telling Lizdotcom on the phone that i dont' think there is one thing about this past weekend or the 1/2 that i would want to change. did everything go smooth and ideally? nah -- but it was genuine and real in all ways

i will try to type up a event report soon -- but in summary. expo day (which i didn't have a camera darn!) included a wonderful lunch with lily and pat (thank you for tolerating the many dog and iditarod stories :rolleyes1 ) and a rushed evening of packing for my overnighters downtown. race morning i woke up a bit sleepy after getting to bed around 11 p.m., but got some coffee and a bagel and Mom and I headed downtown. pre-race was hectic and crazy as to be expected, much fun in watching the kids mascot chase including evanmom's son (evan of course). The 1/2 started and adrenalin kicked in; my legs hit their usual pace and i ditched Lily, Pat, Craig and Amanda -- :smokin: LOL b/c i'm not a speed demon but my pace just kicked in. being the non-shy person i usually am by Mile 2 i had a new friend and walking buddy and by Mile 3 we added another to our little crew. Us three gals walked to the end together - where at maybe .25 miles to go I had this crazy urge to run the finish -- and finished strong for me

Dinner that evening was a delight, three trips to the pool/hottub area with my youngest DD and then checked out of the Hampton and sent the fam home. Mom and I checked into the Westin and indulged in a 80 min massage. it was devine! we arrived in our heavenly robes and left to melt into our heavenly beds. Sunday evening was all about rest and relaxation.

today i got up and did 20 mins on the TM and will follow the post-race schedule gladly - it almost seems like a treat to have such short workouts planned.

i feel great, the massage did help i'm sure -- my quads felt 'overworked' yesterday and today my muscles running down my shins are feeling that way. nothing more than any other long walking day over 8 miles

here's a link to my photos -- hope it works! lily i want to snag some of yours for my scrapbook ok? 2006 Columbus Distance Classic album

wonderful pictures!!! by all accounts it sounds/looks like you all had a blast!

Great job all and the medals are amazing looking!!!

CONGRATS on your race! The pics were awesome ... they brought back some wonderful memories from the "Inaugural WISH Team 2005" at WDW.

Loved those Penguin signs that Bev and Molli's family had!

Sorry I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo delayed to get here to join in the "it was a very good time" at the race (5k for me and SIL, Carol) but there was excitement in the air to be at the finish line cheering for those doing the full 13.1 !! CONGRATS to all !!!

And yes- Mary Liz - it did bring back memories and I have to say I felt "a bit of disappointment" that I wasn't going the full course this time. It was best though, I continue to "baby" my hamstring this week AND I still got the full amenities of dinner with WISH friends, family and that heavenly massage with Molli. Ah........ is it time to go again ????

Lily - you got some great pixs - thanks for posting and Molli posted the ones I took, along with hers.

Liz - thank you for all you did in getting the shirts - they are terrific!

Let me add that John Bingham was at the finish line to the "very end" - congratulating many folks and "playing the crowd" - he truly appears to be just your "average" guy - he came right over to see the sign that Molli's daughter was holding and talked with her and graciously allowed us to take a picture.

Mark your calendars ~the date next year to join the fun is ~ April 14, 2007 !!!
