Columbus Day?

I need help!

I am looking at either 10/8 or 10/11 for MNSSHP tickets and thought that Monday the 8th was our best option.

Maybe not, it is Columbus Day! We homeschool and it doesn't matter to us.

Are any schools systems closed for this day anywhere where you guys live?

Are there any stats. for this day that I could look at?

No, schools are not closed here in Anne Arundel County Maryland.

Our kids only get off one day in October (October 19), & that's for the State Teachers' Convention.

I believe most schools, if not all, are closed in Cape May County, NJ on Columbus Day. I would pick a different day.

Columbus day is the reason why we're going to the world October 3-10th.

All the adults in our party will have Columbus day off work (1 less day to use on actual "vacation" days.) Also, my son's school is off on the Friday and also Monday - so he'll be missing 2 less days of school.

We took a trip in October with my parents in '05 and were there over the Columbus Day holiday. It was very busy. We will avoid that weekend when planning vacations from now on.

if you have a choice avoid Columbus Day Weekend at MK....we have been this time of year and the difference the rest of the week after Columbus Day is palpable....shoulder to shoulder crowds vs no waits.....I do not believe that they have had a party on Columbus Day before...I would't do it.....

We went to Disneyland two years ago on Columbus Day it was really busy. I would avoid it if you can.

Thank you so much for the replies about Columbus Day. After I looked hard at the calendar I really thought that it might be a bad idea for Monday. I know most long weekends are busy at WDW and will avoid that day for the MNSSHP.

My aunt passed away last night, please pray for me and my family.

Federal holiday, no mail, most schools are closed. My grandson always spend Colomubs Day and Veterans Day with me as I'm always off and mom isn't. Colombus Day weekend is probably the busiest week of October. I avoid it and my trip starts at least a week afterwards.

Thank you so very much for your reply. I really appreciate you praying for my family. My aunt was 74 and very special to me. My mom has 3 sisters and I must admit gratefully it is like having 4 mom's. We all live close-by and see each other often. It will be hard, but her last day was a gift from God. Not many people on their last day on this earth get to celebrate their husband & son-law's B-day party with almost all of their family and then her son that she hasn't seen in years drops by to spend the last 2 hours of her life with her(oh, if we only could see the future!) After he left she had a massive heart attack and died at home with her husband of 67 years by her side. We were blessed to know her and spend the last day of her happy, beautiful, precious life together. She did not suffer and we should all be so lucky! My new motto is "I shall live with no regrets of words unspoken or deeds undone." Thank you maxtomsmom for taking your time to think of me and my family. Yes, ours are out that week too, so we will be going down that weekend and staying the week after. I am afraid that first weekend will be super crowded but hoping later in the week it will taper off.

I just purchased 8 tickets to the MNSSHP for 10/11!

This decision was mostly based on the feedback I received from all of you guys. Thank you for your help!

I hope that I made the right decision on maybe the least busy of the two days!
