Columbus Day week or Thanksgiving week?

Hi all!
I booked a trip for October 6th through 13th next year which correlates with my kids' fall breaks. I was checking rates for thanksgiving week and see that they are basically the same.
Which week would you recommend? I understand that the week we are booked in October has gotten quite busy over the years. Is Thanksgiving week super busy too? We are getting the deluxe dining plan. Would one week be easier to snag reservations?
We have been to the Halloween party, so this does not weigh into our decision. TIA for any responses.

I vote Thanksgiving week. You will have crowds, but you will have the Christmas holiday starting. The resorts and parks will be decorated. You have a chance to see MVMCP if it fits into your budget. You have the Candlelight Processional, too.

It will be cooler which we like.

I would choose Thanksgiving week just because the Christmas decorations will be up. I think you should be fine getting ADRs if start now. We went last Thanksgiving and while it was busy, it was not unbearable.

The beginning of the week of Thanksgiving will not be too bad at all. From Wed-Sat will be very high crowds, but with a plan, can be managed. One pro for this week over October is there are NO parties during that week, so you have full hours at MK all week. One con is your travel may be more expensive, especially if you're flying.

Have you seen the park decorated for Christmas? If not, I think I'd choose Thanksgiving just for that. If so, then I'd probably flip a coin or take a family vote.

We made the same choice for this year and chose Thanksgiving for all the reasons already stated. We are beyond excited to spend a holiday at WDW! And we get to stay longer, because DD will miss the same amount of days as she would have for fall break.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Seems unanimous to go with Thanksgiving week. Just need to figure out how much more we would be looking at for airfare.
