Columbus Day vs. Thanksgiving

I am trying to plan a trip to the world either Columbus day week (10/7 through 10/13) or Thanksgiving week (11/19 to 11/26). We have been there around Thanksgiving, 2001, and it was a little crowded on the Wednesday before, but otherwise o.k. We are real off-season people (we used to go in early December) but now DS is in 3rd grade, and we don't want to pull him out for more than a couple of days. Has anybody been at both of these times? How do the crowds compare? Weather? Other considerations? Thanks!

I have not been during those times. I'll just bump this back to page one for you. I'm sure our veterans will have some great advice for you.
