Columbia Harbour House MK

This is my favorite counter service and a nice change from the usual burgers IMO. My favorite item is the tuna salad sandwich.

We did eat here during a rainstorm once and the place was inundated with people. It was also taking quite a while for the staff to clean the tables during the storm. I think that they were overwhelmed for a while since so many people came rushing in at once and then wouldn't leave until the weather cleared up. Normally the restaurant is on the quiet side especially compared to somewhere like Pecos Bill's.

Forgive my ignorance:o but I have no idea whatsoever where this is located. I've been to MK many, many times but have never happened upon this place. I've heard of it and may stop in next month if somebody can tell me where it is.

This restaurant is in Liberty Square, just around the corner from the Hall of Presidents in the direction of Fantasyland. And its front doors face the walkway to the Haunted Mansion.

thanks for all the replies guys, I think we will definately be giving this a try in a few days time!!

We just ate there Thurs. May 1. It was the one night that week MK was open late and had Spectro showing.

The lines at CHH were pretty bad, but dh said the two CMs behind the counter were moving fast fast fast. I also noticed almost everyone ordering had a question or problem. Kids and I had taken a table right above the ordering section so we could keep an eye on dh. ;)

Dh and I split the fish 'n' chips, dd had mac 'n' cheese, ds had a bologna sandwich, so we weren't too adventureous this meal. I did really like the coleslaw that came with our fish.

I think it's worth checking out. It's definitely great for a meal prior to Spectro viewing because you're right near the Liberty Square parade route.

Dandelion, we were there on 1 May also!
We were hungry and just looking for anywhere to grab a bite and happened upon CHH. We ordered 3 Captain's Specials and an extra order of fries and fed 6 people! The Captain's Special has two pieces of Chicken and two pieces of fish, plus fries. DH and I were pleasantly surprised that the fish was actually quite tasty. Being from New England, we had pretty low expectations of the fish, but this place far exceeded them.
We ate downstairs only because, by the time I realized there was an upstairs, we had settled with lots of ketchup containers and utensils. It would have been more bother to move everyone and everything. It was nice enough downstairs. I'm sure we would have enjoyed the place even more, had we moved upstairs.;)
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. (except perhaps during a rainstorm by the sounds of the other posts:confused: ) We really enjoyed it. (and it's tough to please all our kids in one place)

We go every trip. The kids love this place. Sit upstairs where it is quiet.

Jules,

Have eaten here whilst on the Keys to the Kingdom Tour.

Food OK for a service restaurant. Don't think I would have eaten here unless I was on the tour. Sat upstairs, very quiet and restful after 4th July crowds.

Hope this is of help?

We also go every trip - love the fish & chips, veggie chili, tuna, cole slaw, soup, yada yada yada! Its all been good!

Have a long history with this place. Always try to eat here at least once a trip. It's really good and picturesque.

Last June, however, it was extremely crowded and I was nominated to get the food while DH and DS's went upstairs to grab a seat. Got food pretty fast for the crowd but those drinks! WOW! they were giant sized - and no lids (I think they ran out?).

So there I was - all alone - with a giant tray of food for four and giant (!) drinks filled to the brim and facing some very steep stairs! I trembled and sloshed all the way up. Made it - but it was hairy. Moral here is - make sure you have an extra pair of hands if you're going to tackle those stairs. I really thought I was going to take a bath. Upstairs is more fun, though.

How much is the Captain's special at CHH? The price isn't listed on www.wdwig.com I am trying to see if this would be a good place to use the Q&C vouchers. IT sounds like 2 fish and 2 chicken would be perfect for my mom & I to share.

I want to say it was something like $6.50 or $7. DH has the receipts so I can't check right now, but I think it was near that price. As I remember, it was fairly reasonable as Disney food goes!;)

Can anyone tell me if the Columbia Harbor House is air conditioned? By the posts and the description of the restraunt I can't quite tell if the seating areas are open or enclosed.

I'm thinking this might be a solution to the "need lunch but don't want to spoil the Ice Cream Social" dilemma I'm having.

Yes, it is air conditioned very well and the seats are indoors - we ate there twice during our most recent trip and had veggie chilli and chowder soup - both quite good for theme park food. I think I have a new favourite in the MK

Thanks

We went there for the first time in Nov 2001 with a group of 10. We were all in different groups and met up at CHH for lunch. I agree that it is a nice change from the usual fast food fare elsewhere.

My DH loves the chowder bread bowl and usually my DD & I split a meal that has both fish(2) & chicken(2) + fries. She likes the fish & I eat the chicken and for lunch that is just enough for both of us.

It isn't as noisy with all the different rooms. DD gets a table and I find her. Once I know where she is at then I go back to DH who gets the food and help (if needed) bring it back to the table. One of us will usually get napkins, straws, spoons, forks etc for all.

We are planning a trip in Nov/Dec so will probably end up there again.

burgers there? The description of CHH is very familiar but I thought we had some very overcooked hamburgers here last time but I'm not seeing burgers on the menu.

Denise, no burgers at Columbia Harbour House. Maybe you were at Pecos Bill's? Did the place you went to have a real extensive toppings bar?

I didn't notice a big toppings bar but there were multiple rooms and it was across from the riverboat. I think it had an upstairs too and several entrances. That is why I am so confused. I'll have a look next month and then I'll know for sure. I just remember how awful the burgers were as we could hardly chew them!:o
