Next month we will be attending MNSSHP one night. I know CHH will be closing at 5:00 that night. We will be entering at 4:00. My question is weird. We are trying to do a lot of nostalgic things on this trip as this will be our last trip for a while. CHH used to be our favorite CS at MK, and we would always try to eat there before the Halloween party. Now the menu has changed, and I’ve heard some bad reviews. Not sure we want to eat there, but one of my favorite spots is the upstairs room overlooking the exit to HM. Would I be allowed to go upstairs just for a few minutes if I’m not actually eating there?

Outside of Satuli, I haven't seen anyone checking for orders at the door in a long time. We walked right in the last time we ate there (about 2 months ago).

Even if someone happened to be there, you just tell them you're ordering at the cashier. All the registers were open the last time I went in.

Thanks for the information, but I'm not planning on ordering anything. That is not something I would tell them. I don't want to be dishonest to anyone. I literally just want to walk up the stairs and look out the window for a couple of minutes. Of course, I won't interfere with anyone's dining experience. I guess if I need to order something in order to do that, I will.

Like I said, it's been months since I've seen anyone stationed at doors checking orders. People are coming in and out freely just like 2019 and it's a non-issue to wander in and out.

I can't imagine policy will suddenly change back to COVID measures before your trip but even if they do, it's not a big deal. If you don't want to tell them you're heading for a register, just tell them you want to step upstairs for a second. The likelihood of that happening is so slim I shouldn't have even mentioned it. Sorry.

We ate there last week. Anyone could just walk upstairs, two of my family members went up while I was on line. CHH used to be my favorite CS in the MK, never missed it. It's gone way downhill, it was just not good. I'm hoping it gets back to its former glory, it was so disappointing. You should have no problem going up for a few minutes to look out the window.

Sure you can walk up there. I’ve done it. Could do a coffee or soda break. Or just their fries, but you could sit too. Most hidden tables in the Kingdom. But we find the food still good. Nice view of the Rupinzel area from there at night.

Unless something changes before you go, yes, you can walk in and go where you please. That said, I would not let some reviews you read dissuade you from eating there if you like. CHH is still the favorite MK counter service of many. We go there at least once on every trip.

my kids used to love that little "people watching" window on the bridge between New Orleans Square and Fantasyland, especially when families were fighting. I am quite sure that from that window, my family and I were also watched and laughed at a time or two.

Just get a cup of ice water from the counter and walk upstairs. Disney has been cracking down this year on people sitting in QS places and not eating. We saw it at the new place in Epcot, Dino Cafe in AK and at Cosmic Rays.

Didn’t know M had a New Orleans Square

I would probably eat there if they hadn't changed the shrimp platter to shrimp, fish, and chicken. That just doesn't really appeal to me. Our new favorite is Casey's. That's the only CS my DH is requesting. Maybe I can get a bowl of New England clam chowder (but may be too hot) as an appetizer, especially if Disney is "cracking down" on this as SkipCoffeeforRopeDrop stated. I don't want any negative memories of this place!

We will probably get there around 4:30. They close at 5:00. One part of me says they will be winding down since it's close to closing. Another part of me thinks several people entering for the party at 4:00 will be headed there to get their eating out of the way before the party starts. I guess I'll just play it by ear.

Just an FYI, sometimes the upstairs is closed off and we have gone before a party, and they closed it off early to prepare for closing. But certainly can't hurt to check!

It closes at 5:00 on party nights? We have always eaten there before the parties and it has been between 6 and 7. It's closing earlier before parties now?
That's what it says on the Disney website when I put in my date. But, who knows? I know one year we were planning on eating there before the party, and when we got there, it was already closed. I was SO bummed.

We are there twice our last trip (a few weeks ago). The first time was right as it was opening for the day, they had a cast member outside directing people saying "if you have a mobile order, you can go in and grab a seat until it's ready, if not you can go order over there"- just directing, not checking anything. Second time was later in the day, nobody at the door, we just walked right in. I think you'll be fine.
