Okay this is a complecated theory but I have had many great dicussions about it so here goes.

What if we all see color differently?

Think about it. There is no way to describe a color with out using another color in your descriptive process. There for we have no idea if we are all in fact seeing the same thing.

We were all taught our colors by being shown a picture of something and being told this is blue, red etc.

We may all agree that the words at the top of this screen are green but what if the color I see and call green is actualy the same color you see when you are looking at what we call blue?

Do you see where this is going?

I use to work with teenagers and this subject kept them occupied for hours on long road trips give it a try.

Yeah, I've thought about that before. It's pretty interesting actually...hmm...the world may never know.

i know what your trying to say, but we all see the same colors lol

were all human.. and our eyes are built with the same anatomy.. we see things with the cones and rods in our eyes...

color is nothing more than a reflected wave of light... specific colors are just specific frequencies of these waves....

sooooo if 2 people are looking at an object... they are using the same anatomy parts (cones and rods in the eye)..... and since they are looking at the same object, they are looking at the same frequency of light wave.... therefore, they see the same color

OMG! I always think about that! lol I tend to overthink things as it is and this topic drives me insane! XD

I can kinda describe colors. Like something hot is 'red'.
Sorry if I sound crazy.

Speaking of Colors...

you know whats very hard? Trying to come up with a new color ;)

we dont the way youre thinking we do.
otherwise colorblind tests couldnt work.
but
a blue eyed person sees colors lighter than a brown eyed person does.

Exactly. It's because we see the same frequency (with the exception of those that may have some eyesight issue) and we have chosen a name for it, which is generally accepted. That's what 'makes' a colour to my mind.

People with blue and generally fair coloured eyes are more sensitive to light than those with darker eyes.

Oh how I :lovestruc Biology!

Is that really true? Weird.:upsidedow

I have a friend that smells colours.
Smells colours? How does that work? I'm interested.

I've often wondered if what I see as green is not what you see. It's a complicated thing that I think about often.
