Where can I get non-prescription, colored contact lenses? Can you only get them from an eye doctor? For some reason, I thought if they weren't prescription, you could get these at any number of stores.

Please advise, Oh Wise DISers! :teeth:

You do need to go to an eye doctor to get even non-prescription contact lenses. They need to be fitted to your eye, and your eye has to be measured to do that. Eyes, just like feet, come in many different sizes and shapes, so you need to visit the eye doctor to get them. Also, the non-prescription contacts cost the same as prescription ones.

Thanks Lori!

My son mentioned something about a sample also. I don't think those were fitted for him though.

Kim, at least my eye professional has many different sample sizes/ranges out there. Usually I can actually pick up all my contacts w/o having to wait since their stock is so big. So he probably can get a sample that is fitted for his eye if the inventory is large enough :)

DEFINATLY go to the eye doctor. It can be very dangerous if you wear lenses that are not fitted for you. Also-it's important to check out how the colors work on your eyes. The way you see them in pictures is ussually not how they will look on your eyes. I've tried ones that looked great in pictures and horrible on my eyes, and vice versa.
Just buy one box and see how you like them, but after that, you can go to a site like 1800contacts.com and order through them for cheaper, and they often run deals with free shipping!
Good luck!
