This is a different kind of restaurant in Castleberry and I am still trying to decide if I would go back. First it is a fondue restaurant and that part was actually pretty good. Then we ordered the main course, meat or sea food and it sounded delicious until I found out you had to cook your own on a hot rock delivered to your table. They bring you both a rock and a fondue pot full of hot chicken soup. They dump some raw veggies in the pot and then tell you you can either cook the food in the hot soup or on the rock. Did I like it? NOt really but I would go back for the fondue. You might find it is a different experience and when i viewed it as such I was glad I went but when it comes to cooking I do not even like to do it at home I am not about to do it when I go to a restaurant. I would be curious to find out if anyone has been there and actually liked cooking their own food on a hot rock.
My husband told me it was a chic idea and I said that I would be happy being gauche while I was served somthing that I wanted to eat.

That's the whole point of fondue, to cook it yourself... so people who go there desire to cook it at the table.

We personally love fondue, and frequent the Melting Pot and Simply Fondue when we can. It's different, to us, than cooking at home. We also have fondue pots and plates and enjoy inviting people over for a fondue dinner...

I saw this fondue restaurant on $40 a day, and it's very much like the other two fondue restaurants I mentioned...

=)

I totally agree Bella, I do not desire to go to a restaurant and cook. We went to Melting Pot for dinner one time and I hated it. My husband is a chef and does not see the point in putting in a piece of meat at a time. He dumped everything in there at once and was expediting the whole situation. From now on it is only for cheese and chocolate fondue.

Just an FYI, the restaurant is called the Colorado Fondue Company. We were just there in April and enjoyed it but we knew ahead of time that we would be doing the cooking.

Cooking on a rock!!???!!! That sounds too funny. I like the fondue idea, although we have never done that. But a rock???

I too saw the Colorado fondue company on $40 a day and thought about doing the fondue place by Disney. But we will not have a car this trip.

WEll I do not know how you would do it on 40 per day. WE paid 75 for 3 and we had an Entertainment coupon. Cooking one piece of meat at a time is not great but dumping a bunch of veggies in chicken soup is just not my cup of tea. I fully understand the idea of fondue but cooking on the rock is really the pits. It is about the size of two decks of playing cards and it is really hard to cook the food before the rock cools. Going to Samba Room tonight. I KNOW my meal will come to me cooked and arranged in a delightful manner.

On $40 a Day, she just went for the Choclate Fondue as a snack. Believe it was like $8.95??? Looked yummy!!

we had the choclate fondue and it was okay. The sauce itself was delicious but the "dippers" were kind of just okay. If you do go I would say if possible bring in a small bag of pretzels cause they give you way too much dip and way too few dippers. We wished that we had done that. I KNOW it is a very cheesey thing to do but eating the rest of the fondue with a spoon was not classy either!! The thing is the sauce was sooo good I just could not leave it alone. If I had pretzels then it would not have looked so bad.

At melting pot they will give you more of any of the dippers. Pretzels would be perfect. Went to melting pot the other night for cheese and chocolate. It was great. I will never have a real dinner there again.

I had thougt about going to the Melting Pot too but time and my waistline would not permit. I will go next year.
