Colorado Cruisers

Lisa, If it is the Jellystone in Estes Park, it is awesome! I have a 9 ds and dd6 and they love it. Yes there is a pool and 2 parks. Activities all day long. Ice cream truck that you can actually afford, game room, candy bar bingo (awesome) and theme weekends where you have different games/activites depending on the theme. They have craft time. That's all I can think of but we love it there. If you have any ?s, just ask. Haven't been to the one in Canon City but I want to say they don't have a pool.
PS we miss you over on the Sept 17th thread.

Lisa - I have driven by the one in Canon City and it looks cute. It looks like they have cabins that you can rent and I did see a pool there and a little playground with swings. I know my cousins LOVED camping there and they always talked about the candy BINGO.

Hi everyone!

Barb- You asked about my home-based business....I'm going to become a Scopist. A scopist is someone who translates depostions for court reporters. Apparently there is a high demand for Scopists, so I want to finish my schooling quickly so I can start working. I hope to be up and running by Spring of next year. So for now I'm quitting my full-time high-tech job, and am going to work part-time for Progressive as an Insurance Agent. Working part-time will allow more time for school.

I don't want to start a new thread since my question is intended for Colorado Cruisers, so hopefully many of you will respond.

Do you find airfare to be expensive flying from Colorado to Orlando? What's the cheapest airfare you've received going out to WDW? We paid $600 for a non-stop flight from Denver to Orlando in December. A few years ago in July we paid $490 and that included layovers back and forth. And it's just the two of us, no kids.

Diznee25~ I was actually just looking at fares to MCO in December. I was looking at non-stop only because I don't want to deal with the layovers with the kids. Looking on Frontiers site the cheapest I see comes to about $340 each. On United's website they are about $360 each. I also looked at Travelocity and they were more expensive for the same flights. I don't know if I should go ahead and book or wait another month and see if the prices drop. :confused3

Cristi,

Don't book yet! The year of our vacation, I had been keeping track of airfare starting in June, and finally purchased mid August. Paid $310 per ticket for a non-stop flight leaving Dec. 14th. This was Frontier Airlines. So your looking at $680 right now for two tickts, don't buy them! (With tax we paid $620.)
Prices will drop within the next month. My advice is to check daily.

Frontier is a great airline, but I also suggest looking into United Ted. A few months ago, I noticed they were cheaper then Frontier. (United Ted has been giving great deals to fly out to Orlando. Too bad we're not going for a couple more years!)

Diznee25

Ooops. Sorry Cristi. I reread your post and noticed you already looked into United. You're on top of it!

The first time we flew to WDW, we did a layover back and forth. I won't ever do it again! The flight leaves around 8am, but you don't arrive in Orlando until like 5:30 their time! The last time we went to WDW, we did a non-sop flight. Oh, it's heaven! The flight is 3.5 hours, and then you're in Orlando. We flew out at 8:30am and arrived in Orlando by 1pm (their time.) Our afternoon and evening was free to start our vacation. It was so nice!

Hi Jen!!! You're sooooo sweet for missing me on the other thread...I'll go check in!

I guess we won't be going to Jellystone now. My husband has his heart set on camping in the Sangre De Cristo's...We're thinking of a place called Crestone. Anyone hear of that?

Lisa.

We paid $230. but NOT in December. In September. It seems like that is average or high for Sept. I never see it higher. It sounds like Dec is a different story. Too bad Spirit doesn't fly out of here anymore. They were always cheap. And can anyone say Southwest Come to Denver (or even the Springs).....Anyway, put a fare watcher on travelocity and sign up for travelzoo.com They are awesome and send you the 10 best deals on the net every Wednesday (and they check them out for you). Often times they are flying deals.
I have been "lurking" the whole time. Enjoying your posts. Great job on reaching your goal, Sandy!!
Lisa, You will have to try Jellystone sometime. We love it. And we would love to see you "on the 17th" We have an AWESOME group. Really awesome. Having another Denverite would just make it better.

I was hoping maybe in August prices might drop a little. It gets expensive getting four tickets. I am on travelocity best fares, but right now they don't go out that far. I will have to sign up for travelzoo too. My folks usually use either travelocity or orbitz, but they have been having better luck using frontiers website lately. Hopefully, I can get some tickets for closer to $300 a ticket.

Sandy, Congrats on the weight loss!!!!!!

Stay cool everyone! :sunny:

Stay cool?? How can you do that in this heat? Did anyone get that nasty rainstorm today (Sunday). It was unreal.

We will only fly direct to Orlando on Frontier. We love the direct tv and getting to Orlando at a decent time. Heidi took a layover flight and it got her in so late. I don't think she would do that again. I only wish Southwest flew into DIA. They have some awesome deals.

Thanks for the congrats on meeting my goal. It took a year but I did it!

Hey Guys...

Sorry I've been out of the loop for awhile, but we are currently out of town. We're in Reno right now, but just spent 5 days in San Francisco and 2 days in Vegas before that. You want to talk about HOT?! It was 118 in Vegas last week and set a record of 116 while we were there :scared: SF was nice in the 60's & 70's and Reno is about what Denver is now.

As for the Yogi Bear, Nick has taken my girls (10 & 12) there several times and they also love it. We're hoping to plan a weekend maybe in August or sometime in early Sept. It's such a busy time of year with the girls going back to school in a few weeks.

Sandy - Congratulations on meeting your goal :cool1: :cool1: That is so awesome. I hit 60 pounds right before we left, so only 12 pounds to go for my personal goal :teeth: As for Pirate Night, I found a website that sold pirate tshirts (black w/ white skulls) that was pretty cute.

So you missed the all-time high we hit in Denver last week - 105 degrees! I guess that would have felt cooler than where you are!

DV - 105?? HOLY SMOKES BATMAN!!!!!!! I didn't hear about that. At least we were hanging out at the pool all afternoon. The thing I didn't like about Vegas was even after the sunset, it was still in the 90's.

It was an extremely HOT week and weekend, looks like we all managed to make it through the heat.

Teresa - Do you ever stay home...lol!!!!! Vegas is a lot of fun but not in that temp.

I didn't mind the layover and getting in later if the tickets were cheaper for flights, but what I didn't like was Mears so late and it took me over 2 hours to get to All Star Music from the airport, they forgot about me and I had to wait over an hour at the airport for them to reschedule me. Next time I will definitely get a town car.

Dont' forget Disney is offering the magical express...they get your bags and take you free to your hotel....I will let you know how it is when I get back in late Sept. Hopefully it will be painless.
That storm yesterday! I was driving home (from buying dd a sleeping beauty dress) and I couldn't believe the lightning. It was crazy. I get home and my brain dead husband is mowing the lawn. I swear, I am a calm person but I gave him the biggest tongue lashing. That he would risk his life, when he has a family to mow a lawn! I mean this was every 5 seconds, right over your head lightning!
Tera, :faint: Vegas sounds HOT! Did the airconditioning in the hotels help cool the strip (doors opening etc)? I have always wondered if that helped with the temp. We are going to Yogi bear Aug 12th/13th so if you go that weekend, we'll have to say :wave2:

Jen - Oh my gosh, I can't believe your husband was out mowing in that lightning storm. It was horrible and made me jump a few times from the loud booms. Ya I would have had to say a few words if my SO other was doing that!!! Are you getting the free dining meals, along with the Magical Express?

That storm was pretty bad yesterday. I thought our house was going to get hit. We were driving out of the neighborhood this morning and it looks like one of the trees in the park at the end of our street got struck by lightning. I was looking at our thermometer on the back porch (in the shade) on Friday and it said 110. It is a pretty accurate thermometer too. My dad gave it too me and he got it from the National Weather Service where he works.

Tera, I was wondering what happened to you. Like Heidi said, do you ever stay home?? Congrats on your weight loss. I say this everytime but I just don't get where you can find 20 more pounds to lose. I am not just trying to be nice either. You looked good when we met!!

I heard from DCLcruiser and he is so willing for a Del Taco night when he gets back after 9-3. We will definitely be there!

Jen, I can't believe your husband was out in that lightning. It was such a scary storm and to think he was out there on his own will.

Heidi and I went swimming over the weekend and also sun bathed. I actually borrowed one of her suits. Anyway, I got sunburned where the sun hasn't seen me in quite awhile. OUCH! Guess that is what I get for losing weight and wanting to tan more. I just didn't want strap marks for my formal gown in Aug.

Magical express: a DISfriend had it about a month or so ago. They came in very late at night and couldn't use magical express. They had to call a cab after paying for Magical express. She was VERY upset. Make sure that you understand their hours of operation so you won't be upset.

You don't have to pay for magical express anymore. I think it is something they are doing temp (but all year) for the 50th annual thing. We get in at 5:30 so we should be fine. I'm surprised that happens as they take all your flight information. Surprised they didn't catch it. Bummer!

As for my husband...I have decided, sometimes his brain is in a free float...not attatched to anything. My son inherited this condition but his is opposite. It is always in a free float and sometimes attatched to something :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
