Hey all, I'm about to go for my interview for the Fall/Fall Advantage program of this year and the Spring/Spring Advantage program for next year and I have just a few questions, any help is greatly appreciated!
1. Is there anything I should say about which character i'd like to be after attending the auditions?
2. Is there anything specific that I should prepare in advance for my phone interview?
3. Any other little tips or hints would be wonderful!
Thanks in advance!!!
1.) That is not up to you. You have absolutely no choice. Characters are all based on height ranges. Even if you have certain ones in your range that you like more than others, it will not be up to you whether or not that is how you are scheduled.
2.) MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR DISNEY MOVIES! You will not
believe the number of people who when asked that question name non Disney movies. Not all animated movies are Disney (Anastasia, Balto, Prince of Egypt, etc.) They will ask you questions about why you want to be a CP. Make sure you can articulate that. Make sure you pay attention to the presentation, they will know if you didn't. Ask questions based on what you saw. For instance, was there something on housing that could have been made clearer? Most of all, be yourself.
3.) If you are planning to audition, remember that you have to pick another role besides entertainment because getting into entertainment is so variable. Also be prepared for a
long and hectic day. If you have no dance experience, see if your college offers any free dance classes. While dance experience is not necessary, it is extremely helpful, especially if you are in a competitive height range (average height.) Useful things to know: jazz square, pirrouette, etc. Wear something you can move in, but that does not swallow you up. If you have dance shoes, wear them. You will be doing turns and tennis shoes can be very hard to turn in.
It is also not necessarily true that they will not tell you who your friends are following the audition. When I auditioned in Orlando, all of us who made it were told who we were. That could be because it was end of program auditions. I know when I went to Chicago (had to re audition because it was more than six months even though I still had parade approvals) they did not tell you because they did not announce that day if you made it or not. You had to wait for a mailing. This seems to be more common at auditions that do not take place in Orlando.
