college football top 25 is out

UncleKyle posted in an earlier thread that the college football poll is out. So here it is. Any comments? What's your school biggest rival or tradition? Is your team rated accurately?

I root for Ohio State. They graduated a lot of their heart n soul. Don't think this will be a good year for them. Biggest rival is Michigan and the band doing script Ohio is the biggest tradition.

I hate not seeing Alabama's name on there. It's so frustrating. I do believe things are going to improve for them....they can go nowhere but up from here. Coach Shula is just what we needed. It's been a rough time down here the last few years.

Auburn is far and away our biggest rival...but there was not alot of love for Notre Dame in my house growing up either!

As far as traditions....well, there are just too many great ones to try and list them. Alabama football is tradition all on its own.

I've always root for USC and am happy to see them #1. We are also Maryland fans since our DS went to school there. I am sorry that Penn State is not up there again.

I'd have to say our biggest rivalry is anybody ahead of us in the polls! LOL!! Personally, living in GopherLand I just hope they beat Minnesota every year.
Script Ohio is a fantastic tradition. The OSU band is always good. Since I was member of The Hawkeye Marching Band in the 80's (when it was GOOD!) that's quite a compliment.
Our marching band traditions have slowly dwindled due to the hiring of directors from "outside."
But the football team has done the "Swarm" since the late 70's, I believe.

As an aside, I put Z-E-R-O credence in pre-season polls. I look at some of the rankings (including Florida's ) and truly wonder what som eof the pollsters are smokin'.

I'm a University of Wisconsin fan, and I'm a little surprised to see them in the top 25. I think this is a transitional year for them, and since the Big Ten is such a balanced conference I wouldn't be stunned if they finished out of the bowl picture entirely.

I'd say our biggest rival is Iowa, but really anybody in the conference qualifies. Our biggest tradition is probably the 5th quarter. Win or lose, most everybody sticks around and celebrates after the game. And nobody celebrates likes Badgers fans!

You are soooooo right! ROLL TIDE!!!! I'm going to as many games as I can this year....except Tennessee.....because I want to support the team. They deserve everyone's support even if they aren't contenders for the National Championship. Hopefully, after several games, the Tide will be in the Top 25.

I did notice (although it's sometimes hard for this old-timer to remember Penn State is now a part of the Big Ten).

The Nittany Lions had an abysmal season last year. Dare I say it? Maybe time for Joe Pa to retire ?

As to our traditions, already stated the Script Ohio is very big, but there are way too many to list.

And we have the most storied and greatest rivalry in all American Sports (can't vouch for the world yet) with Ohio State vs. Michigan.

Better then Miami who printed and sold back to back National Championship T-shirts even though they lost the game
