Hey all,

I hate to post this, but I am out of ideas. Currently I am applying for transfer out of my current college and into another. The college that I am applying to is my number one college and has been for about five years. The college I am currently attending is a great school and I have made a lot of friends here. The problem is that the college I am currently enrolled in is VERY tiny and it feels more like a high school than a college. I am really torn and I need advice. Below are two lists, the pros and cons of both colleges.

College 1
Pro
  • in the city
  • great group of friends
  • small teacher:student ratio
  • great academic programs
  • Sister goes to same school
  • I am a big fish, in a small pond

Con
  • Really tiny campus
  • a great deal of jerks
  • bad residence halls
  • bad dorms
  • bad dining hours (meaning the operating hours are very few)
  • Feeling of not being where I belong
  • Does not offer Disney Internship
  • Bad Study Abroad program
College 2

Pros
  • Really close to the city with free transportation to the city
  • AMAZING campus
  • Equally great academic program to college 1
  • great food
  • Offer the Disney Internship program
  • More activities available
  • been my number one for years
  • Amazing dorms

Cons
  • might need to get new loan for new school
  • will be harder to make new friends
  • All credits might not transfer
  • might not be as good as it looks

I just don't know what to do. Please if you have a suggestion let me hear it. I can use all the help I can get. Thanks you!

My advice is cheesy, but if your heart is telling you that you're not where you're supposed to be, then follow it to where you feel you are supposed to be. If you have the oppurtunity to go to your number one pick then do it. You'll be much happier AND you'll never have to wonder "What If?". The challenge will definitely be worth it.

What do you mean, doesn't offer the Disney Internship? You can do the program at any school, you just may not get credit for it. Is that what you meant?

Anyway - I say go with what you want. Have you shadowed a student there? Gone on tours? How long do you have until you finish school? Point is, you're there to get a degree, and you'll get that no matter where you go - especially if the academic rigour is the same, you should learn the same things. If you can save money while doing it, all the better. If your dream school is 10,000 dollars more, then I don't know if it's worth it.
Are you doing the same major?

You have to sit down and ask yourself if it's really what you want... nothing we say should make up your mind for you.

You said college 2 might not have transferable credits. Why is that? Is it accredited? Do you expect to need to transfer? Most of your pro's and con's were really just hearsay and may or may not be true. You will probably find a lot of jerks at ANY school you go to. You will need to make friends most places but that's not too hard in college. Hate to say it but dorms and caf food sucks everywhere, its the level of suckage that changes. What you need to base your decision on is your future because remember this is only 4 years. You have 60+ years (hopefully) to live AFTER college and if you screw it up based on cafe food then you are going to regret it. Make sure you understand your colleges accreditation and whether it will mess you up in the future because after 4 years you may have a useless piece of paper and 20k - 40k+ in college loans to pay off.

i agree with some of the things they say...if ur gonna have to pay waaaay more $, then it's definitely not worth it. I can understand the small school part. I don't like HUGE schools, but i definitely don't like every1 knowing my name and business lol. you can do the CP no matter where u go, just may not count as credits. it counted only as electives for me so it didn't matter if i got them or not. the last post is so true about the level of suckage. caf food sucks everywhere. certain ppl suck everywhere. take those 2 things out of ur lists. if u really feel pulled towards ur #1 college, then go for it if it's not a big financial burden and if the academics are the same, or better. But if not, just stay where u are. how many years have u been in school and how many do u think u have left?

I think that you should go for college 2! If its something that you have wanted and still do you should go for it!! You don't want to regret not going!
