Hi,
heading down soon and I'm finishing up the packing. Want to pack a bag of coins for the token machines for the kids. DH and I can't remember what coins we should bring. I know the kids will have alot of fun w/ this especially DS now that he is older.

By "token machines" are you talking about the pressed penny machines? If you are those are 51 cents (1 penny, 2 quarters) and some are $1.25 for the quarter presses.

I took 2 rolls of quarters and lots of pennies last time. It was so nice to have the exact coins when my dd found a machine. We saved change and everynight, I took the quarters and pennies and added them to the bag. We filled up 2 books while we were there, so it was a benefit for us to have them ready.

I save my quarters and pennies all year, then I put quarters and pennies in snack-size baggies and carry a bag with me each day.

However, I am thinking of using empty film canisters or m&m mini canister for our trip as the baggies occasionally rip.

It's so convenient to have them handy when we spy a penny-press machine!

How many smashed pennies do you usually collect on a trip? Do you hunt for machines or just buy when you find them?

Just curious!

I just got them wherever I happened to be. They are everywhere! I filled up one pressed penny book. (12 pennies/page times 3 = 36 pennies times 50 cents = $18 to fill penny part of book.) I only had one pressed quarter. There are 6 slots for them in the book. I didn't even think about how expensive this can be. Maybe I should have just bought another souvenier t-shirt...;)

I just brought down the pennies for the machines. I got the quarters from the game room change machine. Too heavy to carry all that change on the plane!

Disney staff was more than happy to make change for the penny presses. I really think that was my son's (8) favorite thing about Disney. Just as an extra note....if you're bringing pennies from home it might be a good idea to bring "shiney new pennies". They make for a really nice looking souveniers. We just happened upon the first few presses, but once my son was "hooked", he would ask in the stores where he could find more of his precious machines. Again, Cast Members were more than happy to help him locate the nearest machine.

Have a great trip!

Just a word of caution, this can become habit forming. We got hooked on this a couple of trips ago, and look for all of them. In fact we stayed at Vero this past fall for the 1st time and their machine broke before we were able to get the pennies pressed. The CM at the check-in desk was more than glad to hold our money until the machine was repaired and mailed them to us. - Enjoy!
