Just back from our stay in WDW, we had some very good meals, but the coffee was horrible! Last year both my daughter and I were amazed at how good the coffee was every where we ate. But this year what a change, I saw a CM putting the coffee into the machine while we were in roaring forks, it was not a liquid, but some type of crystals, she did not put them in a coffee filter, just poured them in. So it does appear that the coffee is a type of instant. I hope they change back to what they had before.

Me, too. The only coffee at WDW that I really like is the pressed pot coffee served at Boma's and the coffee at the Kona Cafe. Didn't go to either this past trip, though, so maybe they have changed to the "new" type, too. Hope not! I usually bring my own to drink in the room at the beginning of the day.

Kona has the best coffee anywhere in WDW! :) They haven't changed to the new yucky stuff, and I don't think they will, because they serve Kona coffee (of course).

They also make great specialty coffees - and they put a rock candy stir stick in them! :Pinkbounc

This thread reminds me of our last trip to WDW in Sept.
Everytime I wore my Starbucks t-shirt, I was approached by someone wanting to know where I got it or where the nearest Starbucks was.
Boy, were they disappointed to hear I bought the shirt at home in Seattle. One women actually rushed up to me, it was like she thought I worked at a local starbucks and was just out for a few hours. ;)

It all was very funny.
Oh, FYI we did see a starbucks down the freeway/interstate a ways inside a Huge Target store.

I just had to share...it all makes me smile.

Nescafe (a Nestle product) is the official coffee of WDW, probably has something to do with Nestle's sponsorship of the Land pavilion. Coca-cola owns? (or used-to-own?) a coffee company, so I guess they had to reach some sort of agreement since Coca-cola is also a sponsor.

LOL!!:p That tells you how bad my coffee is, we were there this past Feb. and my DH and I just loved Disney's coffee! ~:D~

Good coffee can be had tho--kenya AA at The AKL restaurants, Kona at the Kona restaurant and at Boatwright's the coffee was especially good. Oh--the Maya Grill had good coffee too.

Wow, so glad to see this thread. I thought it was all in my head how bad the coffee was. I use real cream in my coffee at home, and even though most places at WDW offered half-n-half, I just could NOT MAKE THAT COFFEE TURN COLOR! You know, that creamy, caramel color that tells you when you have just the right amount of creamer added? That coffee was N-A-S-T-Y!!! LOL

You are right about the coffee at WDW except at some of the better restaurants like AP and FF. EPCOT also has several kiosks that serve better coffee and espresso. You can FORGET the Magic Kingdom for good coffee or breakfast. Even the coffee at The Fountainview Cafe at EPCOT has gone downhill. It's Nescafe. Gone are the signs for "100% Columbian coffee" at the theme parks. Now I think that it's "100% Instant". :teeth: I always bring my coffee with me or buy some at the market when I get there.

My husband couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the stuff they call coffee. He just about gave someone a piece of his mind. Now he keeps asking do you have real coffee or that fake stuff. Some CM's understand and agree with him, while some don't have a clue!

Have you noticed the ice tea? The only place we found that brew's their tea is AKL. When we switched resorts after a week and went to WL and they had fountain tea, my husband ended up making his own brewed tea with a couple of tea bags, hot water, then ice after the tea steeped.

Good luck finding good coffee. However, now he hooked me on cappuccino. (spl?) So I'm always in the mood for that and looking for a good cup.

Thanks for reading. Diane

I have stayed twice at AKL, once a year ago December 2001 and again last month November 2002.

I found the coffee at Boma's on my first visit in 2001 to be some of the best anywhere. That included both the press pot and the brewed coffee. I dreamed of that coffee all year and getting back to Boma's for the treat of good food, conversation, and coffee.

On my return last month to Boma's, I was disappointed in both the pressed pot and brewed coffee. It all seemed weak and lacking. (though still much much better than MK)

Please help me, has anyone else had this experience?

In October when we were down I got used to going and taking the self serve creamers our and putting 10 Creamers in and three sugars just to get it palatable. I started to call it Mouse Mud. Starbucks would make a killing if they could get a shop in in all of the Parks.

Have you noticed the ice tea?
The iced tea is also that nasty instant stuff made by Nestle. It's supposedly more sanitary, since brewed iced tea can technically harbor bacteria, but the bacteria is completely harmless and can be eliminated by brewing new tea every 24 hours.

That sounds terrible - they better not scrimp on coffee. Being a coffee addict, I just won't allow that. But, I agree with everyone...the coffee at Kona cafe is delicious. We always buy a few pounds when we go. Then, I get home and pretend I'm at the Polynesian sipping away.

:( Yikes yes! the coffee is awful. The coffee at wdw at one time was the best around. It was the same no matter where you had it, including the stuff they supplied in the resort hotels. I think ChuckS hit the nail right on yhe head. Since Kraft gave up sponsoring the land and it was taken over by Nestles the coffee has gone down hill. And speaking of coca-cola,they must have a real sweetheart deal with Disney. They even recentley changed the bottled water to a brand owned by coke. Since my DW and I do not like coke,we bring cans of pepsi with us and when we eat at a resturant,we ask for lime to kill the strange taste of coke:(

For all those who are raving.....I snagged a seat at Bomas for breakfast in early Dec, and it was right next to the beverage service area. Guess what, I could see the coffee machine that was used to fill the table pots. Same liquid instant that you all hate at the other places. Maybe atmosphere does something? At Kona Cafe, the only Kona coffee they serve is in theFrench Press, at least that's what the menu said. AKL seves Kenya the same way.

While I love my coffee in the morning, I would say that on my list of vacation breakers, this is not an item. If the coffee is bad, I can drink water!

One thing to remember is no matter how good a quality of coffee is used they still use that horrid Orlando water to brew it with, so it always will have a funny taste .

I was told by a CM today that the CBR resort's Food Court now serves REAL Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee.
I'm there!!!!!!!! Feb7!

Does anyone know if the POFQ food court serves Nescafe?
